| RE: ID Danish chairs | 1 Relevance | 4 years ago | Herringbone | Identification | |
| @lexi I don’t know if you realized it but the second chair had been discussed at least two times in the forum. We didn’t have a clue and assumed it was a German production. It’s also in the unidentified round backrest thread. So it seems you solved a riddle. Attachment: 01AA2C9E-F055-479F-B391-10699AFC13FC.jpeg | |||||
| Need help identifying maker of stained glass tiffany style lamp shade | 1 Relevance | 4 years ago | seems2blost | Identification | |
| Picked up this lamp at peddlers mall yesterday for $20. didn't come with original base. Trying to identify the manufacturer. I'm leaning towards Meyda. Has a few broken spots I'm going to repair myself unless it turns out to be valuable. If it ends up to be Tiffany's (I don't think it is) ill have a professional repair it. I'm grateful for any help. Cheers | |||||

| @stjamm. Thank you for the update. Good luck with the search. Sorry for late reply, but was house sitting and cat minding for my daughter in a part of the countryside with really poor signal. didn't even bother to bring my laptop. My only company was the cat, nesting swallows, buzzards , wild pheasant and lots of trees with great views over the countryside. Nice to switch off now and then! | |||||

| ... never know what relatives of the owner think is rubbish. They took me to the garage and indeed it was full of rubbish but this chair was in the middle of it. I said 'You're throwing this away?!' And they said 'Yes, as soon as the skip gets here'. I recognised that the chair had a sister chair upstairs. I think they were a pair but obviously the one in the house looked better. (I have professionally cleaned this one (first stage)). From memory - and it was a few years ago - the sister chair upstairs was adjustable. I would never, ever split a pair but they ... | |||||
| Brayton International Mystery Executive Chair | 1 Relevance | 4 years ago | nelsonisava | General discussion | |
| ... loved the lines, the color of the upholstery and also because I needed a desk chair for my home office since... well... COVID, working from home and all that. Eventually, as I developed a new found love for furniture design and vintage pieces, I got curious about its origins. Upon further inspection (by which I mean: kneeling down and looking below the seat) I found a plaque from Brayton International Collection that said the chair was manufactured in the U.S. but I still didn't know if it was special in any other way beyond its looks: like when was it made ... | |||||

| @Lexi @tktoo2 Didn’t mean to appear ungrateful by not thanking you for the very helpful responses. Got banned again; don’t know why. I ran out of e.mail addresses to register again. Third times the charm, I hope 😉 Funny, I looked for this chair for weeks, couldn’t find it, and now seeing them pop up in searches. Google algorithm I suppose. Thanks so much; hope you can help me with a couple other items. Greatest respect and appreciation. Scott | |||||

| thanks @cdsilva, it was actually a few weeks of logging off and on where it didn't work. I even created a new account with a different email account and that was immediately blocked ... i wrote three times to the forum contact address without reply. in any case, it seems to be working again now so no worries, glad to be back ... though i do wonder how many others have given up after being told they were banned. it was quite a frustrating experience and it was only on a whim that i tried logging on again yesterday. anyway, thanks again for your help and i'll ... | |||||

| Anyone interested in more ads? I dug deep and found some never shown before advertisments in Mobilia and Møbler. Seems they advertised more often than I thought. I didn't have the time to really explore every contemporary magazine in Danish Design Museum but the outcome is quite okay. | ... a lot like it. I think people are still making these---they're very similar but there are some subtle differences that I think make a difference. Mine is about 15" long. I am planning to sell it, and will go ahead with selling even if I don't find out who made it. It's mostly for my own personal knowledge. I'm sure some of you can relate to that. It's really driving me nuts! It's stamped "DESIGN DENMARK" (twice actually--the first one wasn't too legible so they stamped again). It looks like there may have been a logo above that but only a bit at the r ... | |||||

| @tina-2, @varde Dear Tina, sorry for not replying sooner, I just didn't see that there were aditional posts to moderate and answer. I deleted the double posts. You should be able now to post as Tina-2. From what I see, your chair is a Madsen & Schubell production from the late 60s or later. It's from the second or even third phase of the company history, which is less well documented (Some say also less interesting). I haven't seen it before and know nothing about it. I can only give your background you maybe have read on the pages before. The second ... | |||||

| I too put in some retina-burning time looking for this one before giving up . I also saw the "T-chairs" by Katavolos, et al and thought it could lead somewhere, but it didn't, at least as it pertains to the red lounge. I did learn that they were, and still are, made by Gratz Industries of Pennsyvania. They have a nice website with interesting info on their history, such as their early production of some Mies van der Rohe and le Corbusier designs for Knoll. I also thought maybe the other furniture in the ad could be a clue. The black chair looks like ... | |||||
| RE: bovenkamp not madsen schubell | 1 Relevance | 4 years ago | Herringbone | General discussion | |
| @wesemael No, I don’t. And as I understand it, Bovenkamp didn’t work with known designers other than Madsen and Schubell. They imported Danish furniture and sold it, if I remember correctly. They had Severin Handen and maybe also Ib Kofod Larsen although I‘m not sure about that. Maybe I only think it because of that one MS chair which is always attributed to him. Anyway, constructionwise I would assume that the chair you posted was an in-house design. Or it was an import from a smaller Danish company. Not Kai Kristiansen to my best of knowledge. | |||||
