Hello!

I have two Breuer B34 chairs whose screws have sheared off at the connection point between the seat back and the armrest. I've already successfully gotten the broken screw tips out of the chair frame, but have had no luck finding authentic replacement screws so I can put my chairs back together.

Does anyone have any advice on where I can look to find replacement screws for this chair? I'd prefer an exact match if possible, even if it costs, but if all else fails, I'm also willing to try a substitute if anyone has suggestions. I've measured the screws, and they appear to be 2" 1/4-14  (please see picture).

Thank you in advance!

Matt

@himitsurugi

McMaster-Carr is my go-to source for specialty fasteners in North America:

You'll find that most of the socket head screws listed are machine screws with flat ends whereas your original screws look more like wood or sheet metal screws with pointed ends. If you choose slightly longer machine screws of similar diameter and thread spacing, you can cut them to length and grind points onto the ends and those should work for you. Also, you don't want alloys harder than the tubular steel components of your chair. Better to have the screws wear out than the holes becoming overly enlarged over time and use.

Best of luck!

Oh, it's likely that your screws are metric, so watch for that. 1/4" X 14 is not a standard Imperial screw size.

@tktoo

That is all very helpful - I believe I've found something that will work from the site you mentioned. Thank you again!
