| ... stays that way a little longer. @tktoo2 Yes, it’s walnut. Came out very dark when I oiled it. Even looks like I used stain in some places, which I didn’t. The walnut I had used before was much lighter. I wonder if it has something to do with the oil I used. It certainly wasn’t as nice a board as yours but for the drawer fronts I‘ll get one with a nice grain. @spanky Very nice as usual. I always enjoy seeing what you do or make, because your work is versatile yet always tasteful. Sometimes I wish I had the chance to tryout all the different techniques of ... | |||||

| @wesemael Thanks a lot for remembering! But I now know the story of Severin Hansen and it is clear to me that Bovenkamp didn’t produce any Severin Hansen designs, they just imported the tables he designed for Haslev (or should I say „they“ since we are speaking of father and son?). The people behind Bovenkamp seem to have been very fond of Danish furniture. They visited furniture fairs in Copenhagen in order to find business partners. That’s where they met Arnold Madsen and Henry Schubell and also made contact with other companies. | |||||

| And here‘s another one. We knew the chair, but we didn’t know the sofa. Or love seat? Attachment: 909E1B88-FDF4-47F2-B1F0-0FAF0CEF5C14.jpeg | |||||

| I didn't really find them. They came to me 😉 The love seat is more likely a Madsen and Schubell production. Don't think, Vik and Blindheim made such oddities. | |||||

| I didn’t even know that one. And I learned something: The compass seems to refer to the pointed arrangement of the legs. Maybe that was obvious for you, for me it’s a new discovery. Second edit: Okay, it was obvious for you. I just learned another thing. A compass in English isn’t just the thing with the needle that always points north. Yay. | |||||

| @lexi Yes, Troja is the name and that’s the one. There’s no doubt Kai Kristiansen designed it, he is also mentioned in the text. I guess, IKEA didn’t produce but just retailed it. But I may be wrong. | |||||
| Noma Cph Møller 62s | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | Kyle Barrett | General discussion | |
| Hi all, I was trawling the internet as I usually do, and spotted some of the Noma Møller 62s and decided to take a quick look. The 62 isn't my favourite design but the finish is interesting with its intentionally distressed and fumed oak. I am trying to justify my curiosity, I don't know why. Upon looking at the stamp on the rail, I noticed something odd. The rail didn't appear to be the beech, I'd expect. In fact I wasn't even sure it was real wood. Compound timber isn't strong enough for rails is it? Could anyone shed some light on what this material is? K ... | |||||

| ... not much else. None of the ads or articles for Sol-Air shows these bar stools or the OP's table, so maybe they are from less popular collections, or later editions to Sol-Air that didn't get much press. The second photo shows a Sol-Air dining table and chairs . The third photo is a 1947 ad by an LA furniture store for the "Saarinen-Swanson Modern" collection; it doesn't mention which company made it. | ... she said it was “Cherry Wood”... So based on the potential Brazilian origin I did some research on “Brazilian Cherry” And Lo and behold i think it very well may be that. I initially thought some sort of rosewood as well. But it just didn’t seem to match up with other rosewood mid century pieces I’ve had before (including some Brazilian rosewood pieces). Thanks so much for those who have chimed in so far. I so appreciate the help. I’d love to find out who may have designed or made these exquisite pieces. i have plenty of additional photos on top of what ... | |||||

| Thanks tktoo2. The back mounts have three attachment points. That points toward Vitra. I had read elsewhere that Vitra didn't have veneer on the inner side of the shells, but maybe that was something that changed at some point? I think the ID stamp is still the best chance of a more certain match. Hoping someone here with European manufactured chairs could look and see the format of the these manufacture markers on there's. | |||||

| I just realized that I double posted this. I am so sorry. After I posted the first time, I had account problems and had to create a new account. I didn't realize that the original post had gone through. So I ended up posting a second time under a different name. I wasn't trying to spam anyone. Again I'm sorry for double posting. | |||||

| @kyle-barrett It's very nice you say that. And yes, I was planning to share the information here, too. I just wasn't sure how. I didn't want to flood the forum and start ten threads at once but also didn't want to start only one for all the designers. Because if maybe @lexi digs up piles of never seen before documents (which can be expected ;)), things would get mixed up. So I'll probably end up starting individual threads for the designers but take my time. If anybody is interested: on Instragram I go by the name of oliverf54 which is the stupid name IG ga ... | |||||
| RE: Severin Hansen and Severin Hansen jr. | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | Herringbone | General discussion | |
| ... Severin, the details were worked out by Windahl who produced the furniture. Severin had his own showroom in Copenhagen by then, where all the models were displayed. There was much work to do for him, but in the middle of the fifties he got help from his sons. Severin Hansen had three of them: Knuud Aage, Bjarne and Erik Severin. They all tried their luck in the business. Knuud Aage worked for his father for some time, designed a chair for Slagelse, but soon lost interest and became a doctor insted. Bjarne went to America and tried to sell Haslev furniture ... | |||||
