| RE: Mid Century Modern teak sideboard - Identification help required | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | mark737 | Identification | |
| The base and pulls look like Val Rossi for Scottish maker Beithcraft but could not find an example like yours with four drawers and that exact base. This is a good summary of the company. http://www.pureimaginations.co.uk/beithcraft-1960s-teak-sideboards-by-val-rossi/ It says Beautility made a later version but I didn’t see one like yours | |||||

| ... especially for the age. Also, the house actually is built on a concrete slab even though the ductwork is below the house. They apparently poured the concrete around the ductwork. The inspector said he had never seen that before. That means that I should just be able to remove the flooring and have the concrete floors redone. We need to move the laundry area (which was already planned on) as it is currently in the kitchen so we will be putting it by the bathroom in a closet that is already there. Plumbing is accessible from the bathroom. Kitchen/dining ... | |||||

| @Herringbone: Yes, I tried to glue the crack with fish glue (I suppose that's a sort of hide glue as well). The skin glue didn't arrive yet. I will try it out as soon it's there and I am curious about its result and ability. | |||||

| RE: Danish Papercord Chair | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | Herringbone | Identification | |
| I remember a company called Danish Overseas Furniture which was set up in the 70s and produced in the Philippines. Erling Torvits drew for them at the end of his carreer. I think moving to Asia was a quite popular way for Danish entrepreneurs in the 70s to cut production costs. But in many cases it didn't really work out. The demand for teak furniture continued to decline. And the problem with Danish Overseas Furniture for instance was that the Philippine government banned large-scale logging in the mid 70s, so the project came to an end. | |||||

| ... glue, so it might go all the way through the crack to places were your other glue didn’t go. You also should check if the joint itself is lose, and if it is, you should reglue it as well. Think about how to clamp all this beforehand. It might be complicated to adhere the pressure you need for the glue to work. | |||||

| ... then I moved a few months ago, and in the process of unpacking it I accidentally separated it and dropped the shade, badly bending it. Took some photos and emailed them to Louis Poulsen, fully expecting the repair to cost a significant fraction of what I'd originally paid for the lamp. They said they could definitely help, but asked me to work through my dealer because they're not set up to deal directly with the public. So I contacted the dealer, Hive Modern, and told them the story. But then I got busy at work and didn't follow up. Two weeks later, I a ... | |||||

| I am still under contract for the home. Was supposed to be closing in two days, but the attorney for the estate realized that he didn't file some paperwork that needs to be filed for the title. He file it like a 1 1/2 weeks ago so now we can't close until mid-March. Got the first estimates back on fixing up the home (I realize that they will likely be more than the estimate), but the estimates are lower than I expected even more the basics. I guess because apart from the electric most of the work is cosmetic. | |||||

| Oh no, we haven't heard from her in yonks. I recall a woman who lived both in Florida and in Switzerland; who was that ? What other early names did I see on that page I posted earlier ? cdsilva ? I wonder how Koen de Winter is doing. His ceramic studio washed away in a notorious flood in Canada, sometime around 2008 or 2010. Hippo Design was his entity. I really didn't earn my stripes for longevity, though (as at Wright Chat and at Design Community for some years) I did so much posting here because I had retired and had time (and a lot of pent-up ego ... | |||||

| Posted by: objectworship It’s a removable cover. Have an upholsterer sew it up and put it back together. Find an old h-base. That’s it. Thank you so much. I assumed the cover was attached so didn't try to remove it. When I did, the shell looks perfect, much to my surprise, needing only a damp cleaning. The cover, though, needs more than just stitching as the pics show. (Also found the remnants of a label on the cover once I pulled it off). I'm thinking it isn't worth it to repair the cover, and I'm better off just finding a suitable base? Attachment: P3 ... | |||||
