Just picked up a set of HM shells. I removed the glides and there was a bit of rust on the inside of the tubing.
I sprayed the insides with WD-40 and removed as much as I could near the openings.
At some point I want to go back and do a more thorough job. Just wondering if by chance anyone has done this or has any tips. Maybe a gun cleaning kit? Overkill perhaps?

The inside of the legs
is the perfect place for rust. The outsides, OTOH...
Really, why bother?

I think
you just took top honors in the OCD exams. I cannot imagine any one ever even thinking of that, let alone actually doing it. And I come from a rich soup of OCD stock. Life is way too short.

Try some evaporust meant for motorcycle fuel tanks. Once clean use bicycle framesaver to prevent future rust problems.

Oh of course...
All you'll need is a can of aluminum polish, ten packs of toothbrushes, a pack of rubber bands and a stick.
Job done and a day well spent.
