I've always had a soft spot for trailers. This particular one, I found on craigslist ... not for sale, rather the owner posted a photo and was looking for land to rent.

Have you ever seen this humble little modernist abode?

It's neat from what I can tell.

Nope --
never saw one like that. Pretty cool -- and more "architectural" than the other designer favorite, Airstream . . .

Actually, I think it's...
Actually, I think it's original. I found some info here, and oddly enough it's the same pic I found. It even has the floor plans.
It's a 1959 Spartan Carousel. This info courtesy of my pal, Lynette.

trailers
whitespike,
There are some postings I should never read, and this was one. Now I am once again giving serious thought to an Airstream Bambi. Years ago Neiman-Marcus hired outside designers to design new interiors for this unit and some of them were great. The Bambi by DWR was too cool! This posting only added to my desire to get a trailer in good physical shape and redo the interior in post modern design. Truly, thanks for the posting.

Scamp
flyingpatricio,
Very nice. I hope you and your wife are able to get the Sacmp, as summer is just a few months from now.
I do not think I have the cash for the Airstream Bambi, but now is a great time to buy everything as there seem to many people who need money. I myself always just want more money.
Once again, good luck with your desires.

That makes sense whitespike.
I had not even heard of the Spartan.
"The largest reaching 10 feet wide by 55 feet long. A fleet of 29 2-ton Internationals was used to deliver these large homes..."
Great link! thanks
it took me to this link...

The '58 Royal Manor looks like it could double up as a 50's Diner.

step up the game
rockland,
At that size it seems to only make sense to me "step up the game" and purchase a Budd stainless steel coach car. The dimensions are 10x10x80. The current cost is $250,000.00 for an Amtrak certified (able to to travel at 100 mph) unit that my be reconfigured inside to suite anyones desires.

I'm a trailer fan too!
Spent many happy summers with my grandparents on Cape Cod in their Shasta trailer. My gramp was a mad mad surf fisherman and we'd rove around the cape looking for the best spot. Such great memories!
Out here in New Mexico, we've been thinking of a trailer so we can easily explore this enormous state and it's neighbors. Lots of ground to cover out here.
The Scamp is cute! But I'm thinking we're going to go with a pop-up. Much easier to haul and simpler to store. We're going to rent one for starters. Maybe you guys might consider that if you want to try out trailer livin'!
Link to some pop us...please ignore the unfortunate decor!

Mine is a LandYacht. I think just two feet longer than a Bambi.
We did white knuckle leaving NYC the first trip. (the Verrazano Narrows
Bridge), but the trip south was a blast. An easy ride once out of city
traffic.
