Novel extension mechanisms became a thing in maybe the mid 1960s. Rosewood also became a thing then.  For example Gjerløv Knudsen designed a yin yang table.  Aage Schmidt Christensen designed one with automatically storing leaves.  The flip flap table made by Dyrlund is from about then and that is probably the most successful.  There are certainly others that aren’t immediately coming to mind. Gjerløv Knudsen was a great designer who never really got a chance because he was born too late, but he is probably the most famous of these designers and he isn’t very famous.  I tend to think that the person who concocts such mechanisms is probably not a famous designer whose specialty is making an appealing overall form.

Some more photos of the apron legs and underside could be helpful. Someone might be able to narrow the field of possibilities that way.
