Just picked up a Cado unit and the shelf hardware is black. Guessing someone spray painted it as an improvement after they polished off the brass mistakenly. Or did it actually come in black some times.
I want to add it on to a Cado I already have that has brass supports.
Anyone know if you can actually get these related? I've looked around on-line and it seems like a chemical process that isn't very accessible. Like I'm not going to just find some dude in the industrial part of town that does this. Maybe I'm over thinking it?
Suggestions? Advice?

Cado hardware did come in black. And the black hardware I have seen is over steel.

This is over steel. It's coming off in some places.
Guessing this was done in the 60's? Thinking the unit I have with brass supports is from the 50's.
I really don't like the black. Guessing since it's steel, no way to get the brass electroplate on it.

Why not? Here's one metal place that does brass plating on steel:

I don't know that much about metalworking but I would guess it's a standard thing.

I have an original Royal System by Cadovius and it has Black shelf hardware. I believe Cado system has wood hardware / support.

Tiskarna: you are correct, Cadovius's wall system with metal brackets is called 'Royal System.' It was the earlier design. Later in the 60s, Cadovius designed System Cado. Confusingly, the company was named 'Royal System A/S' same as the wall system.
