@kaimaitai. I found the same sofa as yours whch the seller says is Italian. No labels shown.
I can't imagine the Italians needing upholstered bamboo furniture given their climate?
Lovely set anyway.

I saw two examples of what appears to be the same collection, both listed on 1stDibs and Pamono. One by a German dealer and the other Dutch. Both say Italian and 1960's but the German dealer says by Bonacina, but only on their 1stDibs ad. I did some searches for Bonacina and did not see anything similar so probably a classic 1stDibs specious attribution.
I also found this pair sold by Kamelot Auctions that appears to be the same, though a lighter rattan. Again, just says Italian, and their guess was 1950. And my understanding from some quick research is that bamboo is hollow and does not bend, while rattan is solid and bends easily. So, if your furniture features bent sections like these, it is rattan.
Whoever made it it's a nice set and a great find.
A couple more I stumbled upon. First picture is from an Italian dealer called Waimea listing them as made in Italy 1960's but no other info. Second picture is a chair listed by a London dealer described only as 1970's. The style is a bit different but close enough I'd guess it's the same maker.
@kaimaitai. I think I have managed to find your chairs !!
Designed by Tito Agnoli; 1960s.

@tktoo2. I have been on a staycation for 6 days. No laptop or internet.
Mind and memory refreshed.
Also read somewhere, that learning a new language keeps your brain active , especially as you reach a birthday milestone!! ( comme moi)
So my plan is to brush up my French and try to incorporate words or even full sentences into my conversationson a daily basis.
Edit. Apologies for not tagging you as you quite rightly pointed out the furniture was rattan and not bamboo.

@lexi @tktoo2 Thanks, Lexi, I had completely forgotten about this thread. By the way, the translation of the description would be: "armchair and footrest in manao, foam cushions covered with ribbed velvet" . I had to research manao and learned it's a high quality type of rattan from Indonesia. And it should be noted that they were produced by Pierantonio Bonacina, so apologies to that German 1stDibs dealer for questioning their accuracy.
On a distantly related note, I recently bought this armchair. It's similar to some chairs attributed to American company Ficks Reed, but I haven't been able to nail down the maker.
Hey @lexi, does that book have these chairs by chance? I've found a few seller listings that say 1960's Italian but no one shows a mark, tag or reference. Thanks.
