Hey ya! I recently found this great little desk clock and am having trouble id'ing it. Its made of walnut and has solid brass feet. The back is stamped Model 521. I opened it up and the clock mechanism is made by Synchron. The red hand makes me think Nelson (wishful thinking I'm sure) but it doesn't seem quite right. Does anyone have any insight on this lil dude? Thanks!

(Hey its been awhile difeliciantonio!)
EamesJunkie,
It's definitely too early to be Umanoff.
Yes, kind of Rohde-like, but somehow it seems a bit less refined and less expensive than most Rohde clocks.
It does look like it could possibly be early Howard Miller though.
All of the above based on general impressions (rather than any actual knowledge of this period! I have a lot of Nelson clocks, but they are all later than this era.)
Guessing about your clock is much easier than trying to keep up with Mark's haikus when he is rolling though...

Eamesjunkie - your electric clock has some resemblance to the "Contemporaire" clock by Jefferson Model 580-501 being attributed to George Nelson due to the clock hands similarities that his office designed for Howard Miller in 1950's but ...(?)
I don't know if the inside of your clock has any other label besides the Synchron motor you mentioned but most electric clock designs and parts of this type/period like the ones made by General Electric and Telechron were patented and would have shown mostly at the back of the clock even if it was used by other American clock manufacturers like Seth Thomas, Sessions and others.
Sorry if I could not help you ID your clock.
