A friend of mine gave me a set of 4 of these chairs and said she purchased them from Heywood Wakefield years ago, but I don't see a name underneath, just a serial number. I can't find any comparable styles online, similar but not exactly the same. Any idea on how to tell if they are real? And what style they are/how much they are worth? The seats were badly reupholstered and are not original. I plan on fixing the wood and reupholstering. thanks!

No, even though your chairs are wheat in color and look similar in design, Heywood Wakefield never put stretchers in between the legs of their side or arm chairs.

There are heywood wakefield chair with stretchers. For example:

I believe what you were saying is that this model should not have stretchers.

if the serial numbers are preceded by a C or M, the chairs may be Heywood Wakefield. Pieces marked C followed by four numers are pre war production, M are post war. I agree that the only HW dining chairs I have seen with stretchers are the Rohde designed pieces in the link Leif provided.
