| Yes absolutely post the photos, I bought the chair in Stroud, Gloustershire, the guy I bought it from buys in Denmark but he didn’t specify where. It’s incredible to have a family connection! My parents were upholsterers and they are the ones helping me with the project Thanks again! | |||||

| @herringbone that ugliness has to date to -before- the late 1960s because that is when AT went out as I recall. didn’t even make it to the 1970s. | |||||

| This sofa version was listed by a Las Vegas dealer but they didn't know the maker and just threw in some names of companies that made gondola style sofas. Surprised they didn't include Craft. https://www.chairish.com/product/id/1604487 Attachment: Gon.jpg | |||||

| how's everybody doing? I have been holed up for 4 weeks. My outgoing packages are picked up by the mail carrier and my kids have insisted on doing my grocery shopping for me. I take the trash out and that's about it. I am determined to not get sick. One of my favorite distractions is looking at old house real estate listings in St. Paul MN. Redfin.com started sending me listings after I looked for a house that I'd visited there once, just to see if i could find it (I did, in about 10 minutes, without knowing the address). Anyway, @SDR--I thought of ... | |||||

| I didn't see a catalog showing color options for the Tempestini lines, but this shade of orange appears to be one they offered at the time. It's more of a salmon or coral shade, with red/pink tones, as opposed to a burnt orange. Attachment: saltdr.jpg Attachment: temp2.jpg Attachment: salt3.jpg | |||||

| ... and Schubell production. This would be the first one, which is nice. And its Mobilia, which is even nicer, because it proabably was the best informed furniture Magazine at the time. But how come they mention Leif Alring? Three possibilities. Furniture Index made a mistake - wouldn't be the first. Mobilia made a mistake - I don't know how probable that is. Or Leif Alring did indeed design for Madsen and Schubell and we (and Preben) didn't know. It would be nice to see the Mobilia reference. Does anybode have Number 133? | |||||
| Eames or Not? La Fonda-ish Fiberglass Chair | 1 Relevance | 7 years ago | ogw | Identification | |
| Hi, fellow design addicts. My wife and I have been fans of the Eames side chairs forever. And when we a few years back—when we still didn’t have the money—in Switzerland got our hands on two worn-off fiberglass chairs with La Fonda base for a very low price, we, of course, went with it. After enjoying the chairs for a few years now, I finally started researching if they are the real deal or just a nice knock-off. As the shape (wider seat, lower backrest), as well as the base, tell DSL, we can’t find any final proof of their real origin. So maybe someone in t ... | |||||

| Thanks for the welcome back! Yes, I am really not sure, I might end up spending some more time looking if there's any other stamp pictures from the Noma chairs. I didn't think engineered wood would be sufficiently structurally strong, especially to be used for something like a rail that requires it not be brittle in the centre. | |||||

| I did sand one chair slightly with 180 grit sandpaper, but that didn’t help much. Seems that’s not only the lacquer on top, but something what did go deeper in the wood. | |||||

| Kofod Larsen Elizabeth chair help | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | Brian Nolan | General discussion | |
| Hi!!! New here :). I'm a furniture maker currently making a couple Elizabeth chairs for myself. My problem is I've only seen one in person once and didn't have a chance to break out my calipers and tape measure to get accurate dimensions. I feel like I am really close on a lot of it but need confirmation on a couple measurements still. Would anyone here, that has access to an Elizabeth chair, be willing to take a couple measurements for me???? | |||||

| ... vinyl) goes over chipboard cut to fit exactly inside the welt---which you probably found when you stripped the old upholstery off. If it wasn't there, then someone else removed it. The excess fabric at the corners should be trimmed at closely to the staples as possible. I usually use a safety razor to do this. I also redo these in wool and often end up steaming the remaining bunched fabric as flat as I can so that the finished back looks as flat as possible. Obviously you can't do that with vinyl, though. I tried gluing the backs on when I redid chairs ... | |||||

| ... as much time there as I have. My lockdown project was a Yugoslavian folding chair that I got on craigslist for 20 dollars right after everything shut down. I emailed the guy out of habit and then realized OH NO, i shouldn't have done that, now i'll have to go into an iffy situation! But it was ok. (My kids forbid me to go anywhere. They do all my grocery shopping for me.) Anyway, I cut the paper cord off, knocked the frame apart, stripped what lacquer was left on it, then inked and reglued it and waxed it. Then wove the damn thing. I got it to use as ... | |||||
