| Mine is wall mounted. | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | rockland | General discussion | |
| Mine is wall mounted. At the height of a painting. Under is a two shelf Cado unit. I didn't really want or have room for a credenza. I have 6ft of wall between two big glass sliders. Eventually the original curtain wall will go back up and it will be hidden behind. Seems everyones room determines what works best. Love the Royal System Robert, and Nicks cabinet. Tulipman, seems like you could find a wall mount cabinet with a small footprint. Smaller than a Nelson bench? That would help hide the cables and cable box. | While I think I get a sense... While I think I get a sense of what your question is leading toward, rockybird, I seem to recall that most period movie sets I saw of the 50s through the 70s tended to highlight period furniture styles other than Modern: empire queen anne rococo duncan phyfe to name just a few. But I didn't go to a lot of movies back then. Beaver Cleaver, I could tell you, lounged in a provincial wingback far as I can remember, rather than an Eames 670. Dennis the Menace, he did too. | |||||

| ... started to build my living room furnishings, I started out with some inherited George Nelson Compreshensive Storage System pieces and a white Saarinen Tulip cigarette oval table I junked at the Salvation Army in New York City for $15.00 in 1993! When I still had my old small house, I first started looking for a nice lounge chair and ottoman. I did not want to be obvious and go for the Eames 670/671...partly because I wanted a stationary chair and partly because I wasn't sure I could tell the difference between the real thing and a fake Plycraft, or some su ... | |||||

| ... after I'd admired it for awhile. (I don't play chess. Husband does but he only plays with a Staunton set.) Then one day I was on my way out of the local Goodwill, having found nothing at all. Dealers regularly swarm that particular store and it's hard to get anything good. But just as I was passing by the checkout, I glanced up at the "good stuff" on display behind the cash registers and there was another of these chess sets. My heart nearly stopped. It was marked $25. I had to wait in line to be waited on and I kept looking around for dealers (i kno ... | |||||

Even purple. great with your clean kitchen now that you have removed any clutter. When i first viewed my home, they awkwardly placed a grocery store bouquet on the table and left the clutter. (tulip table, bruer chairs) I didn't hesitate because the house was perfect for us. It is a tough selling market. Smart to clean it up and hopefully you will find an appreciative buyer.

| Baroque flowers I mean what's in the last light brown chair posted by Koen. When he posted that excellent example for that moment, I wanted to added then, but I didn't, so I'll do it now: 6% of the "new" baroque flowers --> (or do you think I don't know which is the last trend?") When I say baroque surface I was thinking on these examples. "Flowers?", are not flowers! are arabesques? flowered arabesques? what the hell they are? ps. By the way Robert, visual-research and inspiration will never die! | |||||

| I wish there were more photos we bought the lucite chair and a george nelson lounge bench thingy haha and one of the chaps' neon sculptures, feels right to keep one of them with his furniture, sentimental I know. If you look up the address and "estate sale" there are one or two pics of them, keep bumping into a load of folks that were there, nice bond though, it was special. Had to be quick to get those tags, didn't help that is was our first ever tag sale and were clueless (we're Brits). Wish we'd been more on the ball. | |||||
| When someone mentions a website or store | 1 Relevance | 18 years ago | barrympls | General discussion | |
| When someone mentions a website or store it's not really advertising. We've discussed Hivemodern, Unica Home, and Highbrow, which are similar good distributors of Herman Miller and Knoll, as well as other lines. I didn't think that mentioning that other website as actually advertising...just a heads up. On another thread, a person was looking for Bertoia chairpads and Highbrow was suggested. You didn't remove that listing, Patrick & Alix. We weren't promoting the website, just letting someone know where it can be purchased. I think it was the same thing at ... | |||||

It's true that's very awfully. So I'd love to try to substitute this one for some of the great examples of the laughably crap replicas thread. With the risk of being me on the center of the bonfire now. And then, WHC (from Freedonia) understands very well, and read this as an introduction to an eighties revival. Good to detect that revival/neo-post modernism. But now don't b ...

I just recovered the old foam with a new thin layer of batting to give it a little loft. Barry, you will get a kick out of this. This couch has been recovered three times (mine makes four). The second layer was the same Boris Kroll fabric on your loveseat. I am still working on the cushions. I had to go stop and go out for the third time! to buy more welting and didn't finish today. | Riki, You know I was just... Riki, You know I was just funnin' with ya. That's a gorgeous chair. Sit in it and read, sleep, listen to music, and contemplate. That's what these chairs are made for. I bought my chair directly from Dr. Albert Mehrabian, famous for his 7%-38%-55% rule of interpersonal communication. I like to think he was sitting in this chair in the 70s at UCLA when he came up with his theories. I didn't know who he was when I bought it...I just wanted his chair. 🙂 My wife calls it "The Mehrabian chair" now. I sit in it a lot, but I don't think ...
