| Aww! the first real car that we ever got was a Civic wagon, way back in 1981. It seemed like a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud at the time, even though it didn't have AC (wtf were we thinking?! In Baltimore?!) I can't remember why we got rid of it--maybe that's why? | |||||
| Yes! All of the above! | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | Spanky | Off topic | |
| Yes! All of the above! I actually did put a few sofas in my car. Not all at once, but on at least three different occasions---plus tons of other stuff. Then I got my current CR-V which supposedly has about the same cargo capacity, but because the seats can't be folded down flat without losing a bunch of floor (?) length, it's not nearly as useful and my sofa-transporting days are over. I used to have a short video of my son careening down our sloped driveway on a sofa on casters, though. But the sofa didn't have a motor or steering mechanism so, sadly, i ... | |||||

| I think the link is on DA somewhere---regrettably, I didn't bookmark it. I only watched it once or twice a couple of years ago. Maybe the link is in one of the big seat weaving threads? I hope the video is still up. AH--never mind, found it! | |||||

| Thank you spanky and objectworship ( ! ) and a big thank you to Design Addict for your quick and welcome action. I did see his hate post very early this morning, and in a rare act of restraint I somehow chose not to answer, because I didn't want to satisfy this sick troll with any further engagement. So it was even better when you all stepped up! It makes my day that you did, and it makes my day to know that he now has NO voice. I'm sure that just kills him, and it is exactly what he deserves. I loved Seth's video above. This whole fiasco will surely bring t ... | |||||

| ... One recalls that Bill Clinton left office with a balanced budget and a surplus; G W Bush started two wars without a plan to pay for them, and Obama inherited that debt on top of an international financial crisis, which it took eight long years to scratch his way out of. With the usual Republican promises to raise benefits while slashing taxes, we can expect pretty much the same outcome with Trump -- I assume. The sole redeeming feature of the current debacle (from a Democrat's point of view) is that we get to see how the Repubs manage when they have all th ... | |||||

It felt softer and more flexible, and when I unfurled the plies I found that they were of narrower strips of paper and the paper was lighter in weight than that in the good quality cord. I use both laced and unlaced cord and as far as I can tell, the only difference is in the appearance. I just checked the paper width against some original old cord from a Wegner chair and it's the same. PS--go ...
| My first thought was walnut | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| My first thought was walnut too, but I'm not that great with wood ID and it also didn't fit with the Danish origins, so i kept my mouth shut! I think it was the thing about it being greenish that triggered the ID for me, though. I've seen a lot of old walnut with green undertones. I don't know if it's a reaction to light over time, or what--but it seems to be a thing. For what it's worth, I once saw a set of Møller chairs (can't remember the model) that were made of a very active grained walnut and the seat were woven of thin, smooth, narrow strips of lea ... | |||||
| Hah. Is there a Dump Trump | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | SDR | Off topic | |
| Hah. Is there a Dump Trump movement, yet ? Don't tell me he has to get elected before that kicks in . . . Don't mind me, I'm only here to update my email address. It's going pretty well so far; Apple is the worst, ironically. [later] That was easy. While there I found this button: Receive content follow-up notification e-mails So I pushed it, and my ass fell off. No, it didn't. (Did you know a round one is called a radio button ? I don't know what a square one is called -- probably "Steve". . .) | |||||

| I got mine at a decent price. I think I saw the listing of your pair on eBay for a long time. I hope you didn't have to pay the asking price as it was quite steep. In fact, I just got myself a womb chair set which may replace the coconut chair. Let me know if you're interested in seeing mine. In the meantime, enjoy the pair!!! | |||||

He has no paperwork. I have to presume that it was a Povl dinesen showroom, maybe, or perhaps the servicemen knew to go directly to where the chairs were made, I don't know. I have asked her to have the former owner call me - he is 88-years-old and somewhat frail and that is why ...

| I don't think that's part of the set. I googled "kofod-larsen corner table" and found the same set from a different angle. The posts and legs are dowels with no taper. I'd consider a Peter Hvidt corner table. There are a bunch available right now online so if you don't mind paying full retail you wouldn't have to wait to get one. (I bought one of the caned ones years ago to resell and loved the look of it but didn't think it was terribly practical for a household with kids---for what it's worth!) | |||||

| I've seen Danish chairs of the same design but years apart in manufacture and the seat heights were significantly different. I think they might have been wishbones but it was awhile ago and it was just in passing so I don't really remember. But I would say yes, it happens. That doesn't mean they were real, though. It's hard to say without photos. Regarding the discussion about the penciled intitials---didn't that Danish guy who used to work as a seat weaver for Carl Hansen or PP Mobler say that the initials on a chair that someone had were of the old guy ... | |||||

| joshuasowen: Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It is much appreciated and satisfying! I am located in Delaware. The house it was out front of, I believe was an older lady who passed away. Emcee M: Thank you also for your input. I felt like the cushion style didn't quite match up with Pearsall too well, but saw it listed that way so many different times I was not sure. *Side note* - My buddy found a Pearsall sofa with side tables on the curb yesterday. If I can get pictures from him I will post to get identification verified, | |||||
