| Thank you for the info. I didn't even realize they were posted on eBay. The funny thing is, they are asking slightly more in person than on eBay, and if you take into account that they would lose approximately 13% between eBay and PayPal fees, I may have a little bit of bargaining power doing the in person transaction. | |||||
| Knoll definitely sells fabric | 1 Relevance | 10 years ago | Spanky | General discussion | |
| ... I found a bunch of chairs with these small clips along the top edge of the fabric in back. I have not reupholstered a Platner chair but I've done some others that had metal rods inside to help shape padding----guessing maybe that's what's going on here? But I really don't know. I don't think it would be all that hard to redo so that it looks correct, only because it's basically two pieces of fabric and some padding. I also found examples that did not have any visible clips, but I think they may all be newer chairs. The ones on Knoll's site do not have ... | |||||

| ... Tenara® sewing thread (Teflon) You can use bleach on vinyl but since this is vintage material there are likely to be tiny cracks in it that would expose the polyester core, and you should not use bleach on polyester. I don't know if bleach will weaken polyester (probably google-able) but it might discolor it. I know bleach will turn nylon yellow, so I'd avoid it, period. There's a lot online about removing mildew stains from vinyl, including using stuff like white vinegar, baking soda, borax, and other common (and mild) household products. Direct sunlight ... | |||||

| ... other search and had no ID with it, so who knows. The pulls look the same but the base is different (has stretchers). I also searched for "Niels J. Thorso" and "Niels Thorso" because so many people just type O for Ø, and apparently Google doesn't make their usual assumptions about "did you mean...?" when you use quotes. It didn't really help much. There are probably other pieces out there because ink stamps are often smeared or just faded too much to even be noticed. | |||||

| Just picked up a lovely set of 6 Kai Kristiansen dining chairs with a matching dining table. I didn't take pictures of the table before I stored it, just a quick pic when viewing, but it looks to be an exact match to the chairs. | |||||

| Spanky- This is the label, I did a little digging and its 'Foster - McDavid' 1950-1968. I didn't realize Florida had produced anything so stylish, other than Mark of course. It begs for Missoni drawer liners. Ad from April 20, 1971 Joseph McDavid's obituary http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sptimes/obituary.aspx?n=joseph-d-mcdavi... | |||||

| ... Lewis: I’ve read "The Brown Decade" you so kindly sent me and it is a useful work in your splendid style. I didn’t agree in total but admire and respect. I was sorry to see so little of you in New York- intending to see you if I saw no one else. And the stupidity of wandering around in the Lehigh Starret building while you were waiting for me at 41 west 12th street rises to plague me still. Dutchy and I saw something of Catherine Bauer in New York. The Guggenheim has asked me for a recommendation for the new work she wants to do and I my best- but wrote her ... | |||||

And you may need to get very lucky with the date as I suspect this sofa was not in production long. The only retailer I know who sold Glostrup stuff was Scan in the USA. And the only Scan catalog I've seen was from maybe 1972 and didn't have designers or makers on any of the items made by Glostrup.

One solid scream. I didn't see a thing. Nothing but a forrest of girls standing on chairs and crying and screaming. Where do you get all those awesome vintage coats Mark? Do you bribe your lady friends at your local thrift shop to make sure they funnel all the good coats your way?

| Wow. And I like the wreath, too. Oh -- that's a seater. Well, put some tinsel on it -- Christmas is almost here ! Heh-heh. Sorry -- I'm in a mean mood. I can't think why. Welcome back, dear, we missed you. Well, I did, anyway. nice guy probably didn't notice, as his __ was so far up his __ that the only thing visible was his pants. And we can be sure they weren't nice linen pants, either. What a week. Donald has already noticed that there are parts of the Affordable Care Act that he'd better leave alone. I'm waiting for the Minis (such great little designs) to have taillights that engulf the entire rear of the car. They're headed that way ! Yours look great, Mark. Keep on . . . | |||||

| Well I saw leif's first post on this thread, and I guess it just didn't register in my brain. I've gotten so used to seeing that Tarm Stole rocker listed as Wegner-designed that I just never questioned it. Upon closer examination, there indeed appears to be a significant lack of evidence that this is a Wegner design. I guess my previous thoughts on the OD Mobler chair are the same, except remove the Wegner references. | |||||
