| Source for good turned Danish furniture legs? | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | staceyneil | General discussion | |
| ... prices (i.e. Waddell.) I know Tablelegs.com has some fairly nice ones but they are very pricey and not quite as nice as the Danish ones. Does anyone have a source for the Danish ones? I tried searching Danish classified sites but I don't speak the language so I didn't get very far 🙂 Here are some photos of the legs I am talking about. | |||||

| ... for goods from the non-dealers in particular countries? I mean, I'd be a lot more interested in items that didn't have to be shipped overseas, so that would be a very useful search option if it existed. Without it, there is too much for me to sift through. This also made me wonder where the users of this site are based. Any statistics on what countries the users of this site are from, both frequent contributors and viewers? | |||||
| Dux armchairs? Monarch Furniture Company, mystery history, or what. | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | mgee76 | General discussion | |
| ... Company out of High Point, NC. Tried to look up a company history, but didn't really find much. The other day, a dealer in Minneapolis posted a nearly identical set for sale, made by Dux. I contacted the seller and we had a brief conversation about them. He sent me a couple pictures and a link to another listing, this one in Teak with a clear Dux logo burnt into the backside of the front stretcher. He surmised that Dux started selling furniture in the States at some point, possibly out of this Monarch company. Looking further on my own, I found a number of ... | |||||

| ... Wood glue, matchsticks, etc...? There are also a couple of small holes on either side of the frame and I'm curious as to their intent. I also wanted to ask about the finish. Along the edges of the arms you can see the lighter wood coming through. I'm not an expert with refinishing/staining and confused on whether this darker color is original to the chair? I've seen one other version and the wood was mahogany and much lighter (like what I'm seeing underneath). Finally, I'd like to hear to fabric cleaning tips. I have used Folex in the past on a danish chair ... | |||||
| Help to ID some 1950's Philips wall lights/sconces | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | SoModerne | Identification | |
| Hello All, I was wondering if anybody might be able to identify the designer of these Philips wall lights I bought just last week, they measure approx 27cm high. I've never seen them before and would imagine the survival rate to be quite low due to the fragile nature of the shades, I'm inclined to think they're very early 50's or possibly even late 40's...hoping somebody here will be able to enlighten me. T.I.A. Ron Sorry about the pictures, I have resized them and tried to edit but it didn't work. | |||||
| My first I.D. thread, so be kind to me.... | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Mark | General discussion | |
| I found this teak bowl in the local charity resale store yesterday. I didn't want to buy it without all our "teak geeks" approval. It has a slight flea bite on the rim. I don't carry a tape measure, but it is setting on a filthy Knoll Pollack chair. I took a snappy of its belly, I can't read the makers mark. I'll post a pic of that, too. Advice and love, Aunt Mark | |||||

| I think I have a Frankenstein Z couch | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | malibou | Identification | |
| My mom bought this couch frame for me 21 years ago. At the time I didn't know what it was, I just really liked it. A couple of times my husband and I contemplated ways to monkey up some straps, but it eventually was disassembled and put in the attic (about 15 years ago). I started thinking about it the other day, and brought it down and cleaned it up with some Howard's Feed and Wax. When I reassembled, I realized it was pretty Frankensteinish looking. The arm/leg pieces look like they might be walnut as does the rail between the legs under the seat and the ... | |||||
| Teak chairs with large brass screw head detail? | 1 Relevance | 11 years ago | Cap'n Sensible Shoes | Identification | |
| Saw this set of chairs at a local thrift. Looks like they might be teak underneath all the cigarette smoke. Coarse, almost burlap upholstery, seat pads attach with chrome snaps. Structural screw holes are plugged with dowels, large brass screw heads are part of functional bolts that hold the thing together. Metal tube in back has a brassy anodized finish. I thoroughly inspected every chair for marks, but didn't find the slightest clue. Anyone recognize them? They appeal to me in a early-70s-library sort of way. | |||||

| Hello... I'm new to the site - this is my first post. Thanks in advance for any information you are able to provide on this Hovmand-Olsen furniture. I purchased 2 chairs at a tag/yard sale recently. They were in incredibly dirty condition, but the bones were great. For the price, I didn't even look at the chairs, try to find a maker, etc... just knew that they appeared to be well made chairs with a great shape, and that once cleaned I should be able to resell them to make a few extra dollars. I was thrilled when I got them home and started to ... | |||||
| Random thoughts #1 | 1 Relevance | 13 years ago | Mark | General discussion | |
| Hello Poodlechunks. Time for a random thought thread. My thoughts... Like Robert, I'm nervous around glass top dining tables. (except Platner). I find Memphis design odd..and I feel like I'm not civilized enough to appreciate it. The Danish furniture designer folk from the mid-century didn't receive enough credit. Maharam textiles are just wonderful. I want a small Alto vase. My sport coat tonight is out of control. Yep. I like most items produced by Jonathan Adler..but not all. Knoll quality control surpasses Herman Miller. My sister is ___________ Mothe ... | |||||
