| Etymology You're saved from my pedantic pontifications: Just check "Dibs" on Wikipedia, Vivienne. All I can add is the undocumented impression that small fossil brachiopods, used in schoolboy games, are or were called "pundibs" in the British Isles. | |||||

| Flokati, plus question about Barcelona chairs | 1 Relevance | 21 years ago | Tina E | General discussion | |
| Flokati, plus question about Barcelona chairs My best bargain: a nasty dirty 8x10 white flokati rug at a garage sale for 10 bucks that washed up nicely. My question (for anyone): I have "first dibs" on a pair of black Barcelona chair "knock-offs" (no ottomans). They are obvious knockoffs because the cushions are vinyl (not leather) and kinda dull (not shiny) and the bases are "lightweight" (aluminum?). What is a fair price to offer him? I haven't a clue. What could he "get" for them if he sold them to some other local person, but not on e-bay (he hates e-bay ... | |||||

| ahh, I didn't even realize how much I missed DAOT haikus! Nice one. Here are some pics. One of the visible fissures is what's left of the bigger split. I guess the edges had splintered a bit. It's a solid glue joint under the fissure, which is only maybe 1mm deep. The other fissure wasn't a split at all, just a missing bit of wood..?? I don't know how that could happen but it did. I was worried that the plastic insert would be damaged when I closed up the splits, but it wasn't. I guess it was flexible enough. The splits didn't go together perfectl ... | |||||

| ... molded to fit the ice bucket exactly. I don't know how it's held in. I am not going to ever put ice in this so it's kind of a moot point for me. And yes, that's it on 1st dibs--do you like the lid? I think it's a logical finish but it also looks a bit clunky to me. Or something. No offense to anyone who likes it, of course. | |||||

| Help confirming pair of Lovig side end tables | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | caracalla | Identification | |
| I'd like help confirming whether or not this pair of end tables is by Lovig Nielsen. They appear to be very similar to tables I've seen on 1st dibs in both appearance and dimensions. However my tables have a "Lovig" round label underneath each table top but lack the stamp with year, Lovig, Dansk Danish Design I've seen on Lovig pieces. In addition, the wood construction where the legs are attached underneath looks different on my tables from what I've seen online - they may have been repaired at one time before I purchased them. Thanks for the help in identi ... | |||||
| KS Møbel/ Korup Stolefabrik/ Korup Design AS | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | jbrajo | Identification | |
| I recently picked up a single teak barstool without any marks, but google searched my way to a consistent ID as made by Korup Stolefabrik. Today I found a 1st dibs ad for the stool but with a padded leather seat top on the same base with a label “Korup Design AS Made in Denmark”. I also have a teak dining chair by Henning Kjaernulf marked "KS Møbel Made in Denmark”. Are these all really the same company? Different companies located in Korup Denmark? different time periods? Another question, the stool has exposed hex bolts as part of the design and the sh ... | |||||
| Grete Jalk PJ56 confirmation | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | waxa | Identification | |
| Hi all - I recently picked up what I believe to be an Grete Jalk PJ56 chair. That said, it has no identifying marks/labels, and, unlike most PJ56 chairs, it features a pirelli sling back vs. a rigid wood back. The sling back + oak construction would lead me to believe it might be an early model, but I don't have much to back that up other than a hunch, ha. Thoughts? I did find another apparent sling back PJ56 on 1st dibs but the seller was not forthcoming with information. | |||||

| Posted by: lexi @havertz. Hi; Could you post a few more photos of your chair? side views, views of the underside, from the back etc. Does your chair have a reclining mechanism? There are a lot of these style chairs , especially Swedish designed ones and the subtle differences in shape of the wooden frame or legs can provide a lot of information. I do have an idea but would need to see more pics. Thanks. Hi, I have asked for additional photos. It does have a reclining mechanism. Do you think the 1st dibs seller correctly identified theirs? Thanks | |||||
| Could these be Bender Madsen and Ejnar Larsen by Willy Beck? | 1 Relevance | 6 years ago | angleANDpoise | Identification | |
| To add to my original post below: I'm still searching to ID these chairs and came across a footstool that looks like a match to the apron/cane design. I found it on 1St dibs. The footstool is in teak, but the chairs I have are rosewood. It is attributed to architects Aksel Bender Madsen & Ejnar Larsen and made by Willy Beck. Wondering if anyone can weigh in on this? Best, Anthony Hi, I recently purchased four rosewood dining chairs in London which I intend to restore. I had planned to papercord the seats, but after removing the existing elast ... | |||||
