| ... Not restore. If its good shape, and was cheap, he could do that in something like solid red, and that would look sweet. If it was $10, and the re-upholster was $50 or something, that would be a wonderful chair for the money. It kind of puts me in the mind of a Bertoia diamond chair. That's what I see, or am I going blind? Cuz I feel I'd almost have to save it for the right price. How much is it? | |||||

| You have to be patient, and understanding with me SDR. I deal in a lot of different types of art, for a lot of different types of people. I've sold over 700 items now through my ebay store, and I've covered time periods from 1800 all the way to the 1990's. I know there's so many different tastes out there, you can't like everything, and I probably shouldn't bring it all to this forum, cuz I know it doesn't all fit. I guess it's just nice to have an audience to show it to. And I like seeing your guys response, regardless if it's good or bad. But I buy from so ... | |||||

| ... diamond chair from DWR would never possess the same character, charm, uniqueness and "value" as the vintage pieces do. the same situation would apply to the new herman miller fiberglass shells. therefore, i don't expect the vintage shell market would be affected by the introduction of the new shells at all. the folks who buy shells from modernica however might buy the shells from herman miller now. i wonder if the new shells have shock mounts like the vintage ones... fb | |||||

| ... here. A fellow mid-century enthusiast just bought it from me a few minutes ago and it seems he will either keep it as/is with the petal table base (though get it re-powder coated) or swap it out with a tulip table base. I sold it to him mainly because he intends to use it with a set of Bertoia diamond chairs and that is a proper way to do things. Also, Waffle, I seem to recall you mentioning that you hoped yours was a dining table. If this friend of mine ends up swapping out the base for a tulip table base, should I get you his contact info? I believe you w ... | |||||

| last pictures Well, the chair seems to have the right shape, somehow (first picture). On the pictures of the chinese fake the shape isn't even right. I am still intrigued by this rail (second picture). I had never seen any diamond without a cover before, or didn't pay attention because I didn't think I would one day have to judge the authenticity of one of them... So is this rail always been on the chair or is it a later addition ? And about the dimensions, have they changed since the 1950's or have they always been the dimensions given by Knoll nowadays ? | Armrests Looks very similar to how your arms rest while sitting in a Bertoia diamond chair. Not too bad for a little while but I wouldn't want to sit that way for more than 45 mins to an hour. | |||||

| Thanks bj, I like the bench... Thanks bj, I like the bench and will probably hold on to one. Besides the four diamond chairs, other items include a Pierre Guariche plastic chair for Meurop and a blue Meurop sofa on high feet with fabric discolored. A vast collection of modern art (Permeke, Pierre Cox,...) is not for sale... No other ceramics or glassware. The house is now sold and is located in the area of Hasselt. | |||||
| Maybe walnut? | 1 Relevance | 15 years ago | tktoo | General discussion | |
| Maybe walnut? Either way, the face veneers are nicely book-matched. Too bad about the screws, but they're there for a reason, ya? If they're holding tight, you might consider leaving them. A complete restoration would require little veneer patches, but, unless those are done exceptionally well, the diamond pattern will still show like a sore thumb. Filling and inpainting might be the way to go on this one. | |||||

| Woody 16 bean is a 1 lb package of 16 different kinds of beans and legumes (peas). You soak 'em and make soup out of them. I like soup in the cold winter season. As far as the copper bottoms, I don't go crazy trying to keep them perfect since I bought them second hand and there's plenty of permanent staining to the copper. It's just you can fill a Revere Ware saucepan with leftover soup and the lid fits tight enough to keep in the fridge until you take it out to heat it up in the same pan. I have Swiss diamond and Le Creuset for regular day to day cooking, ... | |||||
