leave it alone.
The only thing I might consider is replacing the worst petal (assuming the worst one is the petal next to your foot and that is not a shadow) with a vintage petal from a parts artichoke. However, this option would involve a lot of searching and waiting for that parts artichoke, which may never come, which would end up being the same as my first response.
Well yes. I have thoughts.
Hi Sport, Aunt Mark here.
Respectfully consider that the spots are not spots..they're "Patina". Took a lot of years to spotify! Why remove this luscious character? A brand new "choke leaf" would look silly..and patched. Simply dust it off...rewire as needed...and enjoy your vintage treasure.
just a thought,
Aunt Mark
Thanks gents, I'll try to keep feet out of these threads in the future.
The lamp is actually not vintage, but from 2008. I will I think just order one leaf to replace the one that really has suffered, given relative young age, the colour difference shouldn't be too big (I really hope).
I did find out how to remove the black spots: https://theolivegreenwindow.blogspot.ch/2013/09/ph-artichoke.html
It includes using chemicals to remove the lacquer, then sand the copper, and re-apply lacquer again. I think I'll leave it with replacing just one leaf.
Well ok.
Best,
Aunt Mark
ps. As long as you have more teeth than toes, showing your feet on this forum is
acceptable.
