I love Spanky's Doug Christie in the back seat with the dog! Perhaps Donald should have had the dog do the intro.
SDR I think you are right about America's collective soul. At least to some degree, it's true.
The dinosaurs have a right to be heard too I guess! Even though the demographics show a diminishing trend, those dinosaurs seem to get a louder voice at election time. Especially with THE DONALD imitating a lighting rod this year. (And of course, any time you tune in to Fox NEWS) It is truly sad what passes for news. Its easier to get mad in a world with limited options.
It's also easy for the politicians to say "we liked the old days better". Of course we did, what else is new?

I heard this exchange on NPR radio this morning. I was impressed by the (conservative) Represenative's view of a complex issue; his rebuke of the interviewer is interesting as well. The comments posted on the page run the gamut by way of response . . .
As an aside, the surprisingly long advertising message which precedes that interview segment is an example of the increasing presence of commercial content on our public radio and television broadcasts. And the female voice which has lately been employed on the radio stations strikes me as annoying; there's an arch, "I'm more perfect than you'll ever be on your best day" quality to both the diction and the affect of the announcer. Ick . . .

I read this crap today.
This image of "Mama's Easter parade costume in 2000 A.D." appeared in the February 26, 1951 Walla Walla Union-Bulletin (Walla Walla, WA). "Chicago fashion experts" predicted that women would carry around their own food, fuel and telephones in mesh bags. The food and telephones seem rather prescient, but I'm not so sure about the "fuel" part of the equation.
FASHION FORECAST -- Mama's Easter parade costume in 2000 A.D. will look something like this, say Chicago fashion experts. They say women will tote their own food, fuel and telephones in mesh bags, such as are carried by model Marjorie Needham.
Sounds like America to me.
Entertainment always "trumps" an informed public. But not to worry. This dog and pony show is just good old train-wreck television at its best.
I admit, it is hard to look away from the accident that is the Donald.
My sense is that he's eventually going to embarrass himself so badly that people will just feel sad for him. And then feel silly and ashamed for watching a guy with this many issues.
Hard to see him going quietly, but even if he doesn't flame out, people will just get nauseated at some point, and the novelty will wear too thin cover up the true ugliness. 9 months is a long time.
It's weird because he is such an interesting mess.
And Hillary reminds me of the old, tired (and uninspired) Teddy Kennedy. Perhaps a bit less tired.
I don't know how these people have the energy at their age. You have to admire that aspect.
Eameshead, right on all counts, I'd say -- except that now it begins to look like the Donald could prevail, into the final running. Crazy, no ? I wish that Hillary was not "used goods" in so many ways.
The drive to "get the job" trumps (sorry) all other considerations; we are such a society of consumers, used to being sold stuff and willingly going along with the charade. The land of the "FREE !" and the home of the "Save !"
Like I said, whats wrong (or better) than a little back and forth?
As for me and Donald, we can dish it out, but we sure can't take it.
This is the off topic thread, right?
Donald will prevail. Ha! Over what? A shrinking and desperate party who's only chance is race / gender / fear baiting?
.
misogynist rants
simple "us and them" wall-talk
aint gonna do it
.
He spews his race-bait
then predictably "pivots"
away from vulgar
.
but he said what he
said. and that's enough for me
foam and hair won't win
