Huh. That was easy.

Sweet. I'm drawn to those colors. In late 1990 I was playing with gridded paper and home-made stamps:

Oh I like that SDR!
Best,
Aunt Mark
ps. Is today your birthday? or was it 11/16? Let's just pretend that it's today. Happy Birthday. And I like my shorts today. Hi.

Mmm -- I do too. I don't think I'd find anything to match it. The belt is nice, too. The shirt -- raspberry ?
11/16 -- thank you, luv. 74th year -- my goodness.

SDR's nice grids
late century "process" art?
hand made rubber stamps
.
or do you think it
more as "P and D"? … "pattern
and decoration"
.
or "minimalist"?
but much more warm and human
evil in labels
.
I catagorize
only to ask how you think
of your art context
.
"P and D" or "grid"
can't come close to describing
what mark calls his pants

Thank you, and good-bye.
I brightened and corrected
the colors on two,
.
one of which is a
replacement. I had fun with
these -- should do some more !

Thanks. Examples like those were steps on a journey toward something more dynamic than static pattern -- though there's nothing wrong with pattern in any form, of course. The examples below illustrate, weakly, the gist of my quest: overlaid patterns of different frequencies with the aim of creating complexity not randomly generated -- "non-arbitrary complexity." The repeats in these patterns are much larger than the paper I drew or stamped on -- except for the gold one.
Everyone has always said "perfect for the computer" -- but in ten years on the Mac I have yet to find a ready means of doing that. Animators like John Whitney ("Digital Harmony") have gone much further in the field than I have. Animating these grids would be the final goal, for me.
The first two patterns are from a series I made after discovering triangular-grid (isometric) "paper" on the Internet, a couple of years ago. Those were drawn with straight-edge and ball-point pen . . .

cool how much can be
said with notion of offset
thank you SDR
.
I often work so
hard to make things look random
when random the're not
.
when asked if nature
inspired him, Jack Pollock
said "I AM nature"
.
coke bottles and fag
butts were found in his paintings
some footprints also

Thank you. Over at
Wright Chat we're debating the
propriety of
.
the after-the-fact
imposition of a grid
floor pattern, to the
.
arced and curved footprint
of the Norman Lykes desert
residence. It has
.
to be done all at
once, by the same hand, to work.
No one ADDs to Jack !
