My 5 cents...
There is no question about it this is part of the famous lower case! An important part, and clearly part of the designer's concept is the small horizontal crossbar close to the top. Without it it could easely be taken for a lower case l, at least in some fonts. As far as I am concerned this is the real thing. Congratulations! You could actually use it, for instance to finish a word like designaddict. Every well spelled collection has one in it, so that's a nice start. If you want to collect seriously,make sure you acquire a few capital T's. It's a nice contrast
