Hey all,
It is finally time for me to redo my bedroom. It was the last stop on the list. I currently have West Elm furnishings in the room. I liberated these from my brother-in-law after he and my sister got married. My sister hated them so I snuck them out the back door :p They are modern design so fit with my decor better than other furnishings I had so they were last on the list to replace.
My bedroom is not huge or anything. Currently, I have a full-sized platform bed with one nightstand. Two nightstands won't fit neither will a queen-sized bed. I have a smallish desk and my 25 gallon reef tank. My first order of business is replacing the tank. Sorry guys, but my reefing hobby takes precedence over my mid-century modern hobby 😉 I am actually replacing the tank with a 36gallon Elos Midi rimless aquarium. Very nice and very modern-looking. I have chosen the stand that has the white sides and wenge doors. So the doors will be kinda walnut colored or so. It won't match the current furniture which is all chocolate colored....so furniture has to go too LOL.
I want basically same style of furniture. A full-sized platform bed and nightstand. A smallish desk. Possibly a smallish dresser. Right now, I have all clothes stored in the closet and boy is it crowded in there. I never got a dresser because never found one I liked that matched the West Elm stuff and I also knew I would be replacing in a few years so didn't really want to waste the money on it. So does anyone know any good designers for modern bedroom furniture? I'd like teak, rosewood, or walnut. I'd rather have actual mid-century modern pieces but wouldn't turn my nose up at some really well-made current pieces. I love the beds that have floating nightstands but did anyone make these with only one nightstand? All the ones I have seen have two. Or can you use one nightstand and put one in storage (are they detatchable)? That way when I move to a larger place (probably a few years down the road) I could bring out second nightstand to use. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Girl actually 😉 My sister has my camera. I just want recommendations on good mid-century bedroom furniture utilizing teak, rosewood, or walnut. Preferably, a platform/low bed possibly with attached side tables that are removable (if they make those). I'll get a pic of my current room up later. I don't actually mind the West Elm furniture. Just not a huge fan of the chocolate wood.

No telly in the bedroom
The bedroom is a place for rest so "less is more"
when it comes to furniture. A friend of mine suggests
that a t.v. in the bedroom is not good feng shui. She suggests
matching bedside tables and lamps to promote harmony.
Also select cool colours to create a restful space that aids sleep.
Personally, I only have natural materials in my bedroom. Plastics give
off toxins as they slowly breakdown. I think of it this way, what would you most like to see when you wake up in the morning? For me, that's my favorite few vintage pieces. But hey, it's all about personal taste.
My ideal bedroom chair would be a Hans Wegner flag line chair.
I also have a small bedroom...
I also have a small bedroom and only wanted to use one nightstand -- mine came in a pair but I found another use for the second (not much difference between a nightstand and an end table). I don't know why, but finding a really nice full-size mid-century bed was far more difficult than any other piece of furniture, in my experience. I would have loved a Nelson bed but they go for such a lot. I came across a number of Wegner twin size beds, and some king size, but finding a double bed was a challenge. Eventually I stumbled upon a Richard Schultz for Knoll double bed at an auction for a very reasonable amount, though I had to invest in reupholstering it. And just recently I finally found the Florence Knoll nightstands to match.
Olive,
I got the mattress...
Olive,
I got the mattress upholstered along with the bed, to make it more of a daybed. I keep the bedding in a cabinet next to the bed and make the bed at night, and unmake it in the morning. My apartment is pretty small and I like leaving the bedroom door open and incorporating the bedroom into my living area, so having the bed as a daybed makes sense to me. I can lounge on it like a sofa, and still see the TV in my living room from there.

I offer you Hannes Wettinsteins Xen bed for Cassina.
