it has been a while since i have see or heard about him Jean-Michel Basquiat I remember seeing his work when i was in NYC.
I knew he was Black but he was from Haiti, and I remember that he started out as a graffiti artist just like Keith Herring who also died very young,

It is said that...
Jean-Michel Basquiat cared more about drugs and women than art or money. Drug influenced artists are a dime a dozen...and buying their art is only supporting their habit, which in JMB?s case might have not existed if he had a nurturing Father.

JMB is way off topic, however...
A great biography of Jean Michel titled "Basquiat" by Phoebe Hoban is a great read. Very insightful, it was also a fair amount of the source material for the movie Basquiat directed by Julian Schnabel. This is noteworthy in as much as it was made by a real art world insider and manages quite nicely not to come off as 'touristy" which more then likely might have been the case were it to be made by a mainstream director.

Back to the subject
I've been watching the previous thread started some time ago which asked the same Q - Your best find ever. I've noticed some of the latest posts on both threads pertain to MY biggest find, so after biting my tounge for so long, I thought I'd chime in. That IS what this post is all about right? Here's a question to add (I'm going somewhere w/ this) What if you found something that you know is the best thing you will EVER find? Really. Think about it, something SO great, you will NEVER top it! What are the chances? Well, I've hit it, & I've been hesitant to tell people about it. I think when you have a score of such magnitude & you tell about it, people HATE you. Don't you think?

Biggest find.
a prototype table by one of the biggie designers. It was never put into commercial production. I knew the form when I bought it, but wasn't sure if what I had was what I thought it to be - it's a now famous design that has been "reissued". I sent pics to one of the big auction houses. 2 months later, it sold for six figures. No Bull.
The story gets better.....
