My dear fellow addicts, I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year. I think we have done a decent job here in keeping this forum alive. Thank you @lexi for all the sleuthing, thank you @leif-ericson for the knowledge you chose to provide every now and then, thank you @tktoo2 for the woodworking experience, @minimoma for sophistication and @objectworship for the love of objects, thanks @spanky for everything. This one also goes out to @cdsilva, @zephyr, @drpoulet, @kyle-barrett, @ernest-rams, @mark, @tchp and all the other nice people we have lost in the phase of transmission from the old forum to the new one. You are missed.

Wow. Thanks for the memory Herringbone! And merry Christmas to you all!

Just for fun (not sure the last thing you acquired topics still exist). Here are my Christmas presents this year:  a Mogensen armchair from my wife (origninal Søborg edition) and a Panton Bachelor chair from me to myself 🤓

And the bachelor (seems only one pic at the time can be posted)

Merry Christmas, indeed.

While there have been some good pickups over this year, none were better than this 50’s Baker Chieftain I got in October, one of only three that have popped up over the last 15 yrs. The plan is to reupholster to black leather early next year.

Thank you, Herringbone!  I've been super busy with other stuff lately but will try to remember to check in more often.

Happy holidays to everyone!

Warmest holiday toast to all DA-ers, both present and absent.

Current projects include making a nice piece of ash into sculpture plinths (gray pickled finish) and a small but tricky repair to my MIL's favorite Couroc tray.

Keeping the faith here on this beautiful Christmas eve in New England.

Glædelig Jul! My favorite find this year was a Finn Juhl prototype sewing box that came from the estate of Poul Lund who owned Bovirke from 1952 onwards and had managed it since the 1940s. My wonderful wife actually found it on Craigslist in an estate sale and I, knowing nothing about it, thought it quite interesting in a Juhl-y way and I shared photos with some people because we all like a curiosity. The second impossible coincidence is that I shared photos with the former-former owner who had bought it from Bruun-Rasmussen a decade back, imported it to North America and then sold it on. So I was able to learn just what the little curious sewing box was. I have since pieced together that it was born in 1949 in Søren Willadsen’s workshop. Now it rolls around in my living room!  Thank you Finn Juhl.

He wasn’t allowed in first under his original name so he invented a new personality. Then he liked it. Now he is reputable.

Illustriosity was all just too too for this bumpkin anyway. Reputability, OTOH, seems to fit.

And, dear Herringbone, I know what I like (in your wardrobe).

Great hear from you all, and a very happy holidays to you all!

Been keeping track of Leif's acquisitions via Instagram, but beyond that I have certainly missed the conversations with you all.  I have been very busy with work, and with the continual remodeling of my home.  I did have time to learn the basics of how to build cabinets from an old school American cabinet maker.   I also learned how to build stairs from an old-school Canadian stair builder.  Both experiences were an excercise in humility, and the realization that I have a lifetime of learning to do yet.

Have only acquired a few pieces here and there, nothing that is really notable.  I just have not had the time to hunt, and have spent most of my time finishing projects that are years old, and liquidating those pieces that I have lived with long enough.

Thanks @herringbone and to all DA members.  Have a wonderful modernist Christmas to all.

Just working on a small carriage house that I hope to start building next Spring.

Mini, there's something about your model that reminds me of the Sirmai-Peterson House model that I became a little too familiar with back when I was still on the fence about Gehry. Not in a bad way, though, I did like the model for it's use of common materials and have never visited the actual house.

We call those "Garage Mahals" around here, BTW.

Happy holidays! I’ve been taking stuff to the thrift store instead of from it lately, and it feels pretty good.
