Interesting wall hanging that appears to be dyed thin canvas. Unique piece that appears to be a one off. The piece is stapled at the top and bottom to a wood crossbar. Anyone have a clue or direction of how to research this piece? It came from the home of an architect during the 50-70s and collected nothing but high end pieces. Came with a ton of Architectural pottery, Stan bitters pottery, strandgaard teak desk and a 70s omni unit. I wanted to throw information in to give it context. He appeared to collect mostly California art and ceramics but also had some scandanavian pieces as well. Thanks in advance for any help with the I.D.

Technique appears as batik which would make it unique.

A few thoughts,

Send a photo to LA Modern Auctions for free appraisal and ID- https://lamodern.com

or you could also reaching out to the guy who writes the blog Esoteric Survey -esotericsurvey.blogspot.com, he's a dealer specializing in obscure mid century California crafts, perhaps he point you in right direction

Also possible go through old Crafts Horizon magazines, a comprehensive archive from 1950s-70s is available for free online - http://digital.craftcouncil.org/digital/collection/p15785coll2, they featured many CA artist like Bitters and the David Cressey, Evelyn Ackerman

good luck
