It's Alive!....Maybe  

@mark737 Hey, good to hear from you!!!! The  site has been up  for a couple of weeks  now, I just didn't find a way to  log in because the capture doesn't work. But now that you were there, I searched for a workaround and found a direct wordpress log in. How cool is that. @cdsilva, @tktoo, @lexi, @bot12345: if you want so say hi and the Log In doesn't work, try this link. 

It was of course unfortunate that the forum disappeared without a word about a year ago. At the time, I contacted Elizabeth, who told me that they had been considering moving the forum to a different host anyway, or making some other changes to it. But then that source of information dried up as well, and I had pretty much given up hope of ever seeing the forum and its contents again.

Then, sometime in July, there suddenly seemed to be some activity at the old address again. The system was brought back online. At first it was rather unstable, but by now the site seems to be reliably up and running again. It is exactly the same old system: no changes, no updates, no new software.

The only difference from before is that the CAPTCHA on the login page no longer works. But let's not be overly critical.

@Herringbone  Good to hear from you too!  I also had that issue with the recaptcha error.  I don't remember what I did but eventually got logged in.  I did have to reset my password.  Do you know what happened to the website this past year and why it's working again?

@mark737 Just edited my post. As I wrote, I don't know much about why the page went down, Elizabeth just mentionened server problems. And I have absolutely no idea, how it came that it is available again. Forgot to mention @wesemael. He might be interested, too. 

It is clear that the people running the site are a very small operation, possibly just a handful of people, perhaps even a one-man business. Traffic on the site had probably dwindled to almost nothing by the end, which presumably made the whole thing relatively uninteresting from a commercial point of view.

The real value, however, lies in the information contained in all those old threads and in the reach that this content can still generate. So the business decision was probably made to make the forum accessible again, but without putting any effort whatsoever into maintaining or updating the system.

@Herringbone Yes that all makes sense.  I have no idea what it costs to maintain a Forum like this but hopefully it will stay up, along with the photos that are still left,  for a good long while. 

@tktoo I should have tagged as well.  Hopefully he will return and continue offering the great repair advice and other insights.
