Anybody know why Knoll stopped producing Warren Platner's large, high-back easy chair? When production was stopped? How much they were selling for near the end? Any info is appreciated.

Any info.
Economics...Largest chair of the series...1,000+ welds.
Still in production late '70s. Knoll hit the skids early '80s. Currently, $2G^ w/ matching ottoman $3-5G's,
condition & production date dependent..

Didn't it bite the dust
the same time as they discontinued the round ottoman and the loveseat?

Seems like it.
The ottomans came & went in the 70's. The stools are being paired with the Lounge. Shame.

It's kind of amazing that any of his
pieces are still available. I understand Knoll has to hand weld ever rod (even though they have a special welder), but I understand that assembling each piece is very labor intensive.
Platner's wire collection is beautiful and elegant, though.

Platner loveseat
I have the loveseat and was wondering if anyone had any information on it. It got it passed to me from my parents. I have talked to a few people who tell me that a Platner loveseat never existed. And yet, I have one in storage. It needs to be reupholstered but I know it's the real deal since I also have the side chair and coffee table and my parents bought all of them new back in the 70's sometime.
can anyone point me in the direction where I can find some info? Even google doesn't turn up any results. I'm also wondering how much it might be worth. Frame and shell but it would need a real professional to reupholster or be sent back to Knoll.

O the loveseat existed....
I have pictures of it.
You can bet it wasn't in production for very long.
Lucky, lucky you!

My Platner ottoman...
arrived today after MUCH hassle and screw-up's by the freight company, but today, it arrived and ironically three years to the day of Warren Platner's death. How freaky...
Tomorrow I pick up my pair of Easy Chairs!!! Let the reupholstering begin!

Was it Plycon, perchance?
Just curious

No...
UPS... idiots in Jacksonville FL can't process a name on a waybill if their life depended on it. The delivery driver couldn't find my name on my directory because it was entered wrong at the point of origin.
