I just got a Knoll tulip arm chair (BR51) in the mail and the shell where the base attaches was obviously cracked at one time. A repair using epoxy was done, but I don't trust this repair. I can sit in it, but I really don't think it's wise to do a lot of leaning forward (the crack is toward the front of the base). How would you go about repairing this (or getting it repaired)? Is it worth trying to get repaired? It has a little wear in the on the arms and needs cleaning, but otherwise it's in good shape.

I'm not pleased with the seller as they did not disclose this flaw. I'm already contacting him about this, but to be honest, he's really flaky and I kind of doubt he'll even respond. I feel fortunate that the chair even arrived...others have posted feedback on eBay stating they never even received their furniture.

I guess we have no experts...
I guess we have no experts on fiberglass repair here. 🙂
I'm taking the chair into a surfboard shop here in Santa Cruz for an evaluation tomorrow. I suspect this will be a fairly easy thing for them to fix. Luckily it's not on a visible part of the chair. Might see if they can touch up the cracks on the arm while they're at it.

Gelcoat expert needed for Tulip Repair
You need a person adept in Gelcoat or fiberglass repair.Although this can cost a few bucks,it would make the chair useable, and it would be a difficult to detect repair.
