Here is a photo of the Platner Lounge Chair that I have and which needs re-covering (see reference thread: Knoll prices). Any ideas on who and how much?? I'm in the D.C. area.

Beautiful!
Hi Carolyn...
The chair looks to be in great condition and the foam still looks rather in tact. The good thing about Warren Platner's chairs is that they don't require a lot of fabric. These lounge chairs only require 3 yards. The lower end Knoll Fabrics are in the $50/yard range and will work fantastic. I'm not sure what reupholsters charge by the hour, but I could redo this chair in 3 or 4 hours myself, completed. I would email Knoll or a Knoll retailer in the DC area and have them recommend a re upholsterer who has experience with this type of furniture.

Looks fine but...
there's a gaping hole underneath the cushion - it looks like a dog (or something) took a bite out of the fabric - not something you can just stitch back together. Also, I have seen this in off-white, and love the look with the contrast of the metal and white. ankh1980 -- thanks for the information!!

Here are my chairs...
The fabric on the small green chair was Knoll's Classic Boucle (Chartreuse) I ordered from Celeb-Association in Chicago, they are a fantastic eBay seller. The boucle fabrics look great on these chairs! -Jeff

Contact David at Comfort...
Contact David at Comfort Upholstery, on Archer Ave in Chicago.
They are amazing at all MCM furniture. I have used them twice now, and like the quality. They used to work for a bigger shop, and now have their own shop.
He sells on ebay also.

thanks, donsof
I have been wondering ... perhaps I'll sell the chair, as it really doesn't seem to belong in my house. Perhaps on eBay... right now, I'm trying to decide.

Yep, that's my chair...
I had no idea what price to ask, so I just picked what I thought might be a modest, but fair amount considering the upholstery condition - we'll see...

It's still early...
I'm sure you'll still catch a few thousand for this chair!

thanks for the optimism, ankh1980...
and if it doesn't sell, I've decided to put it in my studio (I'm a painter) where it will feel quite at home, even without recovering.
