Mark,
No harm intended.... Just having a little fun.... To be honest, I wouldn't of even known that you were wearing a pair of Gucci shoes...... Now that I do know, that is a impressive collection you have.....
Peruche

Don't be silly Peruche, I was just messing with you. You are a great addition to this fabulous forum. So today after a plump breakfast, I stopped to see my fav gals at the local charity resale, had a glass of cheap white wine ...and brought home this lonely little white Gainey planter. I'll try and grab some plants tonight. I have more soil. I wore ________.
Best,
Aunt Shoe
Mark,
I believe you may have more interest in shoes than the average person (not a bad thing). Robert1960 is the only other contributor that appears both well groomed and impeccably attired, but it is unknown if he is a Gucci fanatic.
I thought you may enjoy these Chuck Taylor "knock offs" made by Gucci. Actually they are just plain red leather Gucci high tops (retailer: Neiman-Marcus).
My tailor (apprentice trained master Milan 1960) made a big deal when I wore them for a fitting. He has seen a great many good shoes in his time and they brought a smile to his face.
My personal favorites are alligator cap toe lace ups and Armani Collezioni suits. Everyday is Levi and Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna et al cotton shirts.
Hush Puppies are more than likely a well constructed shoe in that price range.
Niceguy, I know how you feel about off-brand knockoffs, so I hope you'll be pleased to learn that it's possible to have exclusivity AND authenticity by purchasing out-of-the-ordinary variations on the classic Chucks which Converse occasionally makes available (often in very limited numbers). Some examples from my collection:
fastfwd,
You are absolutely correct that I abhor "knock offs". The Gucci Chuck Taylor similarity was a joke.
As close as I am able to get to the real deal is a pair of Converse All-Star's in brown leather my sister gave me a few years ago as a birthday gift. They are comfortable with the Levi's.
I rarely wear the Gucci's due to the great difficulty in having the laces remain flat (it's all about looks).
You have some nice kicks.
Aunt Shoe, I like your threesome of planters a lot! If you get anymore, you have to start a new grouping somewhere else because that one is perfectly complete!
One of my latest finds is this Desimone pitcher. Only a bit of it was visible on the bottom shelf at the thrift store but I knew what what it was immediately because his stuff has such a distinctive look. Unfortunately the handle had a few breaks in it that were sort of sloppily repaired so I undid the repair, cleaned off the old glue and reglued it but it's not really any less visible...just cleaner. But for a few bucks, who cares!
It looks better from a distance, I think because you are less focussed on what the design is and more just on the shapes and colors, which I like a lot. I used to find Desimone at auctions years ago and bought and sold some which I now kind of wish I'd kept. OH well.
