Thank you, kindly, for responding, TinyArmada!
You quelled my nosiness! You could NOT have walked away from that trio! I'm so glad you're keeping them for yourself, & placing in your new home! So many times dealers sell truly phenomenal pieces, when in their hearts, they want to keep for themselves. It's nice to keep that, "SPECIAL, does not come around that often piece", every now & then!
It is a fascinating experience, for me, to purchase from a seller who "knows what they have"; especially when they seek to "educate" me (in order to justify their asking price). I respect that! I always tell friends (who want to sell) to do their reasearch, because, when I buy- I am here to buy from you; not to educate you!
Cheers to you!

object worship,
Way cool. Eclectic period items are fun to collect at reasonable prices. Transportation items (defunct airlines) span many interest. Congratulations on your find. Is there any indictaion that Alexander Girard was responsible for the design?
My sister has four (our family) coffee cups for Braniff International Airlines by Hall China from our childhood travels (yes we began our life of crime with these cups). What fond memories. Last year I found two of these same pieces at Goodwill.
These coffee cups (it was coffee not espresso at the time) are generally attributed to Alexander Girard. I do not know this to be a fact.
I like your cards. Will you please post a photo of the playing cards (complete) Ace though King (any suite or combination) on the same dark background. Please. I respect good stock photos. I will have more information in my never ending search.
I have attached a photo of my six A&W root beer mugs from yet another childhood memory. They are late 1960's removed from the A&W property on multiple occassions by me (today this is known as a repeat offender). I am unrepentant.
Greets to all!
So many sweet treasures above!..my god. My last purchase was a Flos Spun floor lamp designed by Sebastian Wrong. I also bought a new pair of pants.
Cheerio,
Your Aunt Mark
ps niceguy, I have those playing cards amongst my small collection of airline palying cards. yup.
oh and I wanted some reasonably priced everyday flatware, so I bought a 12 pack of Dansk Rondure (plus 6 serving pieces) to compliment my old set of Rosenthal Raymond Loewy china that is also used everyday. I like the knives. They'll saw right through a big hunk of raw cow quicker than my sister's one front tooth.
Hi,
Aunt Mark
re: niceguy
Generally attributed, yes, but there is no name or mention of design on the packaging or any of the parts.
also, Names always receive support from the unnamed e.g. I doubt Alexander Girard actually sat down and drew all (any?) of the symbols on the cards but he may have sketched concepts etc. and fed them to the team, corporate stuff moves through bureaucratic departments, and names often end up being brand imprints rather than an actual designation of the individual per se, the actual graphic designers may have just been some regular people working in cubicles like everybody else but really who knows
I guess most people are regular people huh
humanity is sure strange
Today at the Goodwill during my lunc break-A Finnish glass bonanza
- 4 Nanny Still bpttle vases
- A Kaj Franck Decanter
-A Sapaneva Iglass decanter

Not a bad afternoon
We picked up 23(!) Peter Hvidt dining chairs, including 4 arm chairs. Why one family needed this many dining chairs is beyond me, but it was a fun find.
The Finn Juhl FD540 table that came with them is almost scrap worthy - no extra leaves, replacement internal struts that would have supported the leaves, and a missing chunk from one of the finderholds on the end of one of sliding leaves.
But I guess beggars can't be choosers.
