I'm ready to ship off the back rest on my chair to have it re-caned and I need to get the back rest off of the chair. On each side there is a small brass disk that holds the back to the chair frame. The disk has two tiny holes. How do I remove the disk so as to free the framed backrest? I know there must be a tool for this but I have no idea what it's called. Any help is appreciated..

Not sure without a photo
Bit it sounds like a tamper proof spanner drilled screw that you are talking about. If so then google or your local hardware store will have a screwdriver or bit for you.
I am surprised a danish chair would have security screws holding it together, so I may be completely wrong about this....

Lief, that is similar to what the screws look like. While no the ideal choice, I was able to remove mine with an architect's compass (from an old architect's tool kit) and a little silicone spray to loosen them up.

Trip to local hardware
Trip to the hardware store was a dead end as this screw is metric. I'll google it next but don't want to buy a tool on-line I'll no doubt not use again. Husband and I will try to rig something together. I'll post a pic when the re-cane happens (if I ever get the backrest off...)
