I have done a ton of research and I do believe I have what is a real chair but there are some defects. Missing button, some chipped wood, and a few scratches in the leather. But, the worst part is it appears that the previous owner has screwed the arms on right through the leather I guess to reinforce them? What kind of value damage has this caused if I were to list to resell the chair?

Prize winner
for the absolute worst repair I've ever seen on an ES670.
Easily devalued the chair by more than half.

Kind of hard to tell...
Kind of hard to tell condition from the small pictures, maybe worth pricing new arms? Based on your description and the picture of the arm, maybe something in the low teens?

Eero, it's not only the arms
that have been ruined. As they are, I'd say the ottoman is worth more than the chair. Even if cfeeney decided to go whole hog with a full restoration, I'm not sure he could recoup the cost. He did say, though, that he got the set for virtually nothing, so he stands to do well even flipping it as is.

yeah I picked it up a few...
yeah I picked it up a few years ago not knowing it was real and as I prepare to move and downsize I was going to unload it when a friend pointed out it is real. So I would be happy with low teens 🙂 Thanks all for the advice...going to try to list it locally and give it a go. I will let you know the outcome.

Good point, tktoo...
You're right. I wasn't even considering the damage to the shell on the chair, so new arms wouldn't even matter. Maybe 1k for both, with the majority of the value being in the ottoman.

Maybe.
But I'd be uncomfortable opining on actual figures on this forum.

hmm...
my ebay experience wd suggest the ottoman alone will provoke a bidding war; list the chair separately as a parts chair?

Parting it out on eBay is also an option.
Nobody wants to pay shipping for the entire chair for one or two parts.
Unfortunately, though, the most desirable parts on cfeeney's chair are toast.
I can't tell from the pics if the lower back panel is intact.
Perhaps the seat cushion could garner some interest depending on condition.
