well..
It was $150 and he didnt think it had the original hands. Someone had replaced the motor with a battery operated one. I am going back tomorrow (to pick up something I bought today). I wanted to see a pic of it to see if he was right. Do you think it would be a good deal without the original hands? It's a wood hexagon face, in beautiful condition. I just now I have seen it somewhere.
Yes! Mystery solved
Thanks guys!
That's it - the hexagon clock in Barry's pic. I cant find the one in the auction, beloved, but I would be curious if it was the same clock how much it went for.
I was beginning to wonder if it might be Umanoff. I think it's very nice, but I have spent too much $$$ on clocks already to buy it...Plus, it looks like the hands were indeed changed out.
PS WHile I am typing this, I'm listening to five foxes romp and play outside my front door in downtown Phoenix! There is a family of foxes that just grew up and they live in the sidewalk gutter in front of my house - mom, dad, and 3 almost full grown pups!
They were sold together as a pair:
211
Arthur Umanoff
table clocks, pair
Howard Miller
USA, c. 1965
walnut, stainless steel, enameled metal, lacquered wood
7 w x 4 d x 6 h inches
Signed to face.
Estimate: $300?500
Result: $240

I actually picked up those 2 Umanoffs at the Wright Auction
years back so the pictures on this thread are of mine. As for the Nelson clock, thanks for posting the picture. I'm looking forward to getting it. You can't tell from this picture, but the dial is concave. It looks like it could be a cool design, but I'm withholding judgment.
By the way, the George Nelson Exhibit opens in Spain on June 25th at the Sede Fundacion A Coruna. If anyone is going to be in Spain through September 27th, check it out. I'm hoping to get out there to see it
