It feels a bit strange for...
It feels a bit strange for us in the 30-50 year age group I admit but if you look at the amount of attention things like 70's radio alarm clocks and telephones get on ebay it won't come as a suprise.
A few years ago a friends younger sisters visited and they were looking at my records and one of them said in hushed tone 'this is the oldest thing I've ever touched' which I thought was very funny and a bit strange. But from my age (32) upwards the LP was a recieved format, my parents, grand parents and even great grandparents would not have looked askew at a disc of black plastic, it was toatally familar.
A teenager now would have just caught the tail end of cds and probably has most of their music on file, thats the rate of change, so much so that vintage furniture is more and more regarded as antique, so in that light no I don't think its too much of a stretch for the odd sega or atari to get it a bit of attention.
What might be driving it too is the 'bums on seats' attitude that more and more museum administrators are having to live up to,the modern art museum in my city has done this, some of the exhibits and events are pure populism and are barely edifying and simply designed to attract tourists and media attention.
Just as or more interesting interesting are the early
home computers and synthesisers (I want a moog!)
