Once an Eames LCM or DCM backrest and seat have been drilled through do you need new shockmounts? Or can you simply insert new screws?

Well, there's a reason the backrest has been drilled through, and that's because the shockmounts are detached (or partially detached). The shockmounts can be re-glued and attached to a frame as originally intended of course and the holes in the backrest could be plugged...but I wouldn't do that. It always ends up looking pretty shoddy. There are plenty of dcms/lcms out there at good prices that haven't been compromised (and wouldn't require all of that work to make them usable).
After writing this, I realize that the ebay link perhaps wasn't intended to show a prospective purchase but rather serve as an example of something you already own. If it's one you own, you may as well fix it up -- what the heck. But if you're considering purchasing a drilled d/lcm -- I'd say pass.
I thought someone else
posed the same question about an Eames wood dining or lounge chair that someone had drilled straight through the back. The general opinion was it was ruined and not worth the heartache of dealing with.
My suggestion, sigh, shed a tear and move on down the road.
Actually that was me.
You are right, but that chair really was severely damaged. (Click the link and scroll down for the gore.) However, the ebay chair seems in far better shape but even still has been drilled through though to a lesser extent.
Thanks!
