Hello,

I am hoping someone might be able to identify this chest of drawers for me. I was told it was British, but the shop owner didn't know the designer or company.

Thanks for your help!

Winston

Esavian
Hi, the chest was made by Esavian ltd. A UK firm that made educational furniture.

That's a charming little chest.
What do you suppose its original intended purpose-- to store printed matter?

Underwear --
arranged by year of purchase, with the newest on the top and the tattered and stained on the bottom (no pun intended).

No surer indication that a pun is intended
than the accompanying disclaimer "no pun intended".

So it might seem.
Yet surely you can imagine the case where one types a phrase and then realizes one has created that literary abomination, the play on words. Perhaps I might better have said "unintentional pun intentionally left in" ?
I like your monkey. I wonder what he'd do if a bird landed on his cute little head.
Let's think of other possible uses for that postal cabinet above. Papers is good. Maybe a collection of pistols -- or fish, perhaps ? Gloves ? Potatoes ?

No, seriously; SDR--
What makes you think it's a "postal cabinet"? We know this piece of furniture was designed for institutional use, likely a school. It has twenty drawers, each about 11" X 13", each drawer features a 3" wide pull/ slot/ window.
You think this cabinet was used for sorting incoming/ outgoing mail? I don't quite see it.

No, I was just
riffing. It doesn't really look like an institutional piece, to me -- the legs, the other styling cues, are all "designy" and not function-oriented, to my eye. The pulls are centered in the drawer fronts for aesthetic reasons, I would say -- for instance. And the drawer dimensions don't seem to relate to standard paper sizes, do they ?
An intriguing piece, in any event. Reminds me of a custom dressing-room cabinet job I worked on once, where there were dozens of wood drawers sized like these, each with a full plex window. Sweaters, I think I was told. . .
