I know this is a vintage-ish knockoff of the original but can anyone tell me how the upholstered side panels are held onto the frame? I can't figure it out by just looking at it in person. (This is a photo I cadged from 1st D.) It's kind of driving me nuts.
Oh, and I realize that different versions may have different methods. The one I'm wondering about is this one exactly.
.
There is a sliding clip sort of thing that was common for that method of upholstery, I've got it on my sofa but used differently, there was a Hans Olsen chair on here a while ago (the fried egg, maybe it was a dining chair) that if you pulled up sharply on the upholstered inner ply it would come off, hope that helps.
Another thought, perhaps the upholstery is over an entire other assembly and it might just be screwed in from underneath.
