Hello,

I was hoping I could get some help positively identifying this chair as being a Selig chair, I have ready that some Selig chairs do not have the logo on them, and I'm not sure how to ID it with certainty without the logo...Please let me know.

Thank you

That green coverlet on the chair seat is not original. The unmarked Z chairs I have seen have a specific way of attaching the rubber webbing which you can see on your ottoman. I have evidence this is correct because, well the chairs are otherwise identical and there wouldn’t be much economic benefit to knocking off an economy brand like Selig with identical goods, and because Selig filed a patent in which you can see exactly the same slots for attaching the webbing. Your chair probably dates to around 1958.

Might I request close-up photos of both the seat frame as well as the backrest slats? Most teak Z chairs use teak-stained beech for these members, which patinas differently over time than teak, giving a two-tone appearance sometimes (see below). Your chair does not appear to have that two-toned appearance. So either 1) it was stored most of its life in a dark place (possible), 2) it has been refinished and re-stained (possible), or 3) early teak Z chairs were all-teak (less likely). Thanks.

... actually now looking at a close-up of the rear photo, it does appear to be stained beech after all. Never mind.

Oh sorry, I misread your post. So if it does appear to be stained beech, do you think it is definitely a Selig chair?

Yes, everything I can see in the photos you posted lead me to believe that both chair and ottoman are Selig. Zephyr noted that if there are three slots on each chair seat rail, under the green fabric, that is an indication of  early production, before they started using metal medallions.
