Does anyone recognize this Afromorsia-framed sofa? The detail on the side of the backrest and seat bottom are pretty unique, and I haven’t found anything similar.

@dustdevil. I don't think it is Norwegian. Found a 2 seater version for sale in Canada described as "Scandinavian " style. No maker mentioned.

@lexi  I saw that one too, for sale by Hoopers in Winnipeg.  They don't mention a maker but do list the origin as Canada.  I also found a picture of this one for sale in Vancouver, but link is now dead.  So, Canadian origin seems likely.

@dustdevil  Is your sofa in Canada as well?

@mark737. At some point in the past I discovered that a company called AP Madsen in Vancouver were used by Folke Ohlsson to assemble his designs for Dux, before he moved the operations to California.

@lexi  Interesting, thanks for that.  This site has a very good three-part series on Mid Century Canadian designers.

Our sofa is in Maine, so Canada-adjacent.  Afromorsia isn’t a wood I’ve seen used in Canadian-made pieces in the past.
thanks for the help!

Wow, the last year or so has turned my brain to mush. We recently sold a pair of R.Huber lounges in afromorsia . Totally for about them. Very similar materials to the sofa frame.
