Did we ever sort out the whole Moreddi story? I remember a number of posts on it, and I have gone through many of those that still exist in the archive, but was not able to find an answer on who might have designed the coffee table with the raised edges and cane shelf? I have seen a number of wild attributions on the internet, but the only one that I have seen thus far that seemed to fit with what I know is Grete Jalk. Anyone out there have any input or thoughts.
By the way, it is nice to see the forum up and going again. Not sure whether it will get going to the point of past years, as so many FB and other forums have popped up in the mean time, but this one was always the highest quality. At least I have had Leif's Instagram to watch for the high quality Danish furniture porn.
@Zephyr I am glad you enjoy my instagram. (MovableModern). I can tell you who made these pieces. When Moreddi was not the retailer ther are sometimes stamped KT Nr. xxx. KT is the maker, and that stands for a Kristensen & Thomassen. I have seen evidence that someone named Knud Kristensen designed for the company and Jørgen Pedersen MAA too.
Thanks as always Leif. You ave been acquiring quite a few pieces lately, that are at the top of just about anybody's want list. I have been pestering my wife to pick me up a Finn Juhl piece for my birthday, but she just laughs at me.
I was skeptical of Grete being the designer, but the top is exactly the same as some of the coffee tables she designed for P. Jeppesen. The legs and supports are much different, but sometimes pieces go through revisions, and it was the only thing that I could find that was close to something documented. The piece you show above certainly seems to mirror the construction and aesthetic of the caned shelf portion, of the table in question.
I am looking for a coffee table to match my F&D Edvard Kindt-Larsen side tables, with the raised edges, and this table was at a local shop. I had considered making an offer, but the price is just too high if it does not have pedigree. I love these side tables, but I am less smitten with the matching coffee table, as I prefer the long edge to be raised.
Bit late to this thread but I had a feeling I'd find the answer on this page! I have the same coffee table with the woven cane shelf marked KT 9 on the underside and with the Danish Makers black disc. Any idea on the value? I've cleaned and oiled it and re woven the badly damaged cane and it looks good as new! No Moreddi mark though...
