...Or maybe just junk - that I fell in love with? I have no clue - but the glaze looks like one of theirs.
I came across this today in a 90 year old woman's yard sale...sitting in a pile of weeds with a dead plant in it, and immediately fell in love with the color and shape. Sure, it's got a couple of chips, but I was even more excited once I rinsed it off - the color is spectacular! I still need to give it a good cleaning as it's got some cream colored speckles of house paint on it, but I'm really curious as to the maker.
I cannot find any marks on it, and to me, it looks like there should be another piece to sit it in - or perhaps it was a base for something and should be flipped over? With the large hole at the bottom, it just seems off - but I still love it!
It measures 11.5" tall and 19.5" across at the widest point. Can any of you folks help me ID it?
Thanks!
Lisa

I don't know much about Gainey planters but I don't think they ever had rims like that. But i could be wrong. What I do know is that a giant hole like that is not something that any planter has because the soil will just wash right out. Even small holes have to be screened to keep soil in but still permit water to drain out. A big hole like that would be a pain to screen effectively.
It also looks a bit small to be a foot, even if it wasn't totally open on the bottom. I wonder if it was made to fit into a base of some kind?
