Hi. I purchased this table and chairs but need help identifying the table. It was purchased around the same time as the chairs (1960). It's a leaf table equipped with Watertown Slides. The black area on top makes up the V's or X (depending on if leaf is in place), feels like light thin metal as well. Any help identifying the maker would be great 🙂
The chairs are Foster McDavid - Harvey Probber.
Several sellers attribute the table to John Kapel for Glenn of California c. 1960s, though none I saw showed a mark or reference to support. By the way, Foster McDavid had no connection as far as I can tell to Harvey Probber. Many of their designs were "borrowed" from other designers of the period, such as their knockoffs of Jens Risom's "Playboy" chair.
Mark is correct. If the chairs are Foster McDavid, then they were not designed by Probber. Your chairs appear to be model 1051 (at least the armchair), designed by Herbert Saiger, for Foster McDavid in/around 1960. However, as Mark also correctly said, Foster McDavid produced some furniture. that were remarkably similar to other designs. The arms appear to be slightly different from this Furniture Forum page, but that could either be photo lighting or an alternate design.
