Hi All

I recently purchase this dining table with 8 Johannes Andersen Model 16 chairs and a Johannes Andersen Sideboard. It its a lovely table with a butterfly style extension. I have done much research and I can find a some similar dining tables in the USA (I am UK) without much information other than Danish. Does anyone have any idea of maker?

Thanks in advance.

Best Ed

I have not seen those underside wood block or metal angle details before. It appears there are rails that slide out to support the split table top when expanded. Could you post closeup photos of the butterfly mechanism as well as the edge band profile when the table top is pulled apart but before the butterfly leaves are opened?

It sounds like you’ve already seen the Danish Modern LA old listing, which appears to be the same table. You can always compare dimensions to confirm. Neither that nor the Instagram example appear to have been marked either, so that is not a positive sign for finding another one in the future that is marked. But you never know.

I would not be surprised if your butterfly hardware and wood blocking were not original, and were later repairs. The brass alignment pegs for the leaves, the semicircular bullnose edge banding, the tapered ends of the side rails, the profiles of the sliding wood rails, and the teak top with oak legs are all clues that could help narrow the maker down. But none of those 5 details are distinctive enough to know off the top of my head.

good luck.
