Hi y'all--

I'm very interested in IDing this little cabinet-- it's approx. 40" long x 18" deep x 30" tall. The pulls made me think of Hovmand-Olsen but the squat base seems kind of American. Any thoughts would be so appreciated!

Casey

The pulls and base defintely appear similar to pieces attributed to Arne Hovmand-Olsen for Selig like the one pictured.

This chest has same base style and dimensions as your cabinet:

Thanks very much! A seller just very helpfully identified it as Ib Kofod Larsen for Brande.

You should give the seller some tutoring in design history. 😀

Following up on that new piece of info, I did come across some documentation connecting Kofod-Larsen with these pieces. This Selig catalog, said to be from early 1960's, is for their Jutland Group collection designed by Kofod-Larsen.    There are a number of pieces for sale online stating they were made by Brande Mobelfabrik but I didnt see any that showed marks, apart from the Danish Control disc.  One listing by UK seller Pure Imagination says the line was made by Brande in Denmark and separately by Selig in the USA.   They, and others,  say the design is documented in 60's Decorative Art by Charlotte and Peter Fiell on page 195.  The Selig catalog says the pieces were made in Denmark (by proud men)  - so maybe Brande made them all?   Not sure why some attribute these to Hovmand-Olsen, though his chair does make an appearance in this catalog, with attribution.
