@mark737. don't think so, because the DDR didn't have any currency to buy fiberboards from Sweden. 😮

@mvc Yes, not a lot of trade between Sweden and the DDR, I'd guess.  It was a weak attempt at humor on my part, though if you search "DDR Schrankwand" there are examples pretty similar to the OP's.  Like this beauty:

I was perhaps right. There is a (missing) bridge between the lower deeper cabs and the uppers. That one is a very glossy varnish. The one I was looking at had more of an oiled looking finish which makes an aesthetic world of difference. Danish modern it is not.
