Quite a monstorous thing! ... Quite a monstorous thing! Never realized just how large they are. A health club seems a good and slightly ironic choice. Indoor/outdoor rock climbing/stair climbing then rappelling back down. Enough space and heights for various courts.
one thing about pace for ... | 2 Relevance | 17 years ago | LRF | General discussion
one thing about pace for ... one thing about pace for a great furniture company, they used the cheapest stickers you could find, they seemed to dry up and fall off, I have had about 6 pieces this summer from the same estate and all the pieces were from the same series. of all the pieces 2 had stickers and the other 4 had just dryed up and fell off and you could see where they once were, ( i hate that ) I like most readers on this forum who buy great vintage furniture is always looking for furniture with stickers, it just seems to validate and make thing s easier and helpful and we all feel good that it is what we think it is, sometimes we all get trumped a little and it is not what we though what it should be, but if you are out hunting at junk stores and estate sales YOU will find the Prize ACORN and that is what makes us come back and look for more.

Good thing to actually come... Good thing to actually come from this thread: I now know what Lunchbox's ebay account is. I don't like him. He represents everything I dislike about this place. My plan? I'm going to wait a while, delete this post and then bid on one of his items with the sole purpose of leaving him negative feedback. I will then repeat the whole prrocess with a different account.

It's a old Danish thing.... It's a old Danish thing. When saying "Jens" in Danish, the name sounds like it starts with an I. The same goes for almost all other words starting with a J. So, in the old days when a abbreviation was used for a word starting with a J, they used an I instead. Though it was discarded sometime in the 1960's I think. The items marked IHQ are therefore older.

every thing i have ever ... every thing i have ever owned from Vitra says made in Germany . I doubt they do anything in China but you never know. The clocks that we all bought last year were such dead on ringers they could have been made side by side in the Chinese factories,...... but i doubt it.

I guess the only thing you... I guess the only thing you could do is contact one of the retailers and ask them if Marimekko still makes the fabric...or if they know of any other retailers that carry vintage or out-of-production fabrics. If you have no luck with any of the stores in the U.S., I know a store in Toronto called The Finnish Shop that carries their full line and might be able to help you find it.

The other thing: I have... The other thing: I have only been using vintage stuff. But the stuff keeps failing on me (the amps). My last one I loved. It was a 65' Harman Kardon Award Series A300 integrated amp. Probably only 30 watts (tube), but it sounded great through the Advents. Unfortunately the left transformer died and parts were unavailable. This kind of crap makes me want new stuff in a way. Plus the possibility of having less clutter.

Lots of this kind of thing av... Lots of this kind of thing available in the US, so I assume the UK too. I believe this is Larsen/Selig. Not sure it would be great for a long movie or a nap though...

Haha. It's an American thing... Haha. It's an American thing, I guess. You use them to serve food while you're watching TV. The TV doesn't go on the tray 🙂

Not my sort of thing, no... Not my sort of thing, no offence meant but I'd like to see something like that with a blacker base, a larger extended casting (is it hollow?) with some perforations on the underside facets and lit from within. Or perhaps a pendant with perforations on the upperside facets? I know that is easier said than done.

I dunno, this thing is... I dunno, this thing is pretty accurate. I'm 50/50 style maven/retropolitan. Empire builder was a close second. Although my retropolitan tendencies are better described by the classic stuff - not the tiki and googie stuff, which I don't like at all!

The funny thing is, if any... The funny thing is, if any of the early modernists were alive today, they would not be buying furniture from seventy years ago... they would be buying furniture from the right now. They would think of us as antique collectors. Mies is still spinning. http://Corb would dig Marcel
Big thing | 2 Relevance | 16 years ago | LuciferSum | General discussion
Big thing One big thing about this piece is how the straps are constructed under the pads. The Cassina pieces have a broad strap - the knock-offs have thin wires. A few years back a client of mine offered me his (for a price) because he thought it was very uncomfortable. (not a very good salesman) Turns out, his had wire holding the pad, and it cut into his legs under the knee joint. If this has wires I wonder if you could modify them somehow to be more comfortable.

One thing though is that... One thing though is that when you export a 2d image from the free version you are limited to the resolution of your screen. I have just realised I will probably need to have the locking pin be visible and push through a closed hole like the pivot pin *sigh* oh well it still looks better. I hope the timber will be rigid enough for me to only have to join it on the ends and leave the body of the bench as transparent as possible, I might also have to pull the timber that connects the legs upwards, its good to be able to get the broom around these things! |
