| some thoughts... Even for someone with a European background and very much aware of the sensibilities created in the aftermath of the second world war, it is difficult to know exactly if Ferdinand Porsches freely collaborated or not. I am not even going to speculate. He is part of the very nature and traditions of one of the most underestimated regions in Europe. Technically he is not German but Czech, Bohemian to be precise. I do not want to throw salt on the wounds, but let's say that there was a lot of sympathy for the project described in "Mein Kampf" am ... | |||||

Someone had made big crude buttonholes along the edge so that it could be hung up. She had excellent taste but no skills. Anyway, I was thrilled to bits to get it, being a lifelong fabric maven. I made three pillows out of it. I haven't found much else of Anita Askild's online. She died at age 43 so may have not had a chance to produce a lot.

| thank you bustelo I was hoping for such a response. The set i use now has such an unsavory knife that i refuse to use it. It has been discontinued so i'm sure a replacement site would take it though i'm not much of a seller. Out to lunch? Maybe me as well. My mother still reminds me of my dislike as a child of tissue box floral designs. I insisted they be hidden away in drawers. She still has them hidden in the same places. 30 yrs later. (allergies run in the family). We were just sitting outside planning for tomorrow. Tree removal and some projects that we ... | |||||

| I knew her background... but that doesn't only explain her view of life. Similarly, Billie Holiday, Ethel Waters, dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan all grew up in the same rough world and only one became a junkie (Holiday) and only one died of booze and drugs (Washington). I've read nothing to indicate that Holiday and Washington had it worst than the others. In the case of Ayn Rand, extreme individual objectivism is about 30% too extreme for me. No big deal, probably no one have ruined their lives by reading Ayn Rand. I'm just a bit surp ... | |||||

| SDR, John Rothermel was my best friend and for a time, we shared a loft in NYC. He found the model and two others at an antique shop and after he died, his mother, Della, donated them to the MOMA. They sure were not particularly excited to get their hands on 'em for nothing, either. | |||||

| Two answers Copyright on music literature, pictures, art etc. etc. is the longest protection and is based on a number of years after the year in which the artist / composer/ etc. died. In many countries it is 50 years but there are small differences. On products there is no copyright possible! If it is an invention, it is patented and most patents last 20 years. If it is simply a model...say the Barcelona chair, it can only be protected under a designpatent and there again if renewed on a regular basis it can last more or less two decades depending on the co ... | |||||

| Lucifer Have you read "The Design of Herman MIller?" As early as the 70s George Nelson would not even take a call from the Herman Miller office. The only time Charles Eames communicated with them was to give them the occasional slap on the wrist. After DJ died it became a drastically different place with drastically different motives. DJ was it brother! Even just a handful of years ago (early 2000s) Herman Miller took the right away for its locally owned dealers to sell their products. They awarded only big box store to carry their merch. I am not saying the ... | |||||

| OLIVE - Check this out Olive This is from the ACF (Australian Conservation Foundation) website. As winter sets in, and people living in the southern parts of the country start digging out the thermals, it is a good time to think about how best to heat up our home. Around twenty percent of Australian homes use wood for heating and many of us like the idea of spending a romantic night curled in front of a fire. However most fireplaces don't cut the mustard when it comes to energy efficiency or reducing air pollution. The average open fireplace is a highly inef ... | |||||

If she was after the almighty dollar she probably could have sold the original prints, letters, and artifacts for quite a tidy sum. Even if she did accept a percentage would that be so bad? Alot of negativity/bad manners on this board lately.

| ... Nelson's. From what I have read, although Nelson delegated a lot of the basic design work on particular projects to particular employees, Nelson retained control over the final design, and selected and edited his employees' work as well. Given his final editorial control and the ultimate "approval or disapproval" role played by Nelson for every product of that office, it does not seem fair to attribute the final design to the employee only. Under such circumstances, it just seems inaccurate to say that "Ernest Farmer designed the slatted bench" or "Irving H ... | |||||
