| Hi Pegboard... | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | Jinx | General discussion | |
| ... recently saw a dealer selling some odd looking Eames walnut stools, they just didnt look right to me and assumed that they were fake. I will dig around and see if I can find them again. The seller claimed they were vintage... I wonder if any pre-productions somehow got out into the open market back then, as I have a feeling 1 of them looked like the 1st one on the left side of the picture. Hmmmm... | |||||

| chairs I bid on them too after seeing your post, but didnt go quite as high as the winning bid. I think they were a good deal for someone. I did a quick search and found them being sold in other venues or being valued at $400-1000 a chair. Regardless, it seems they werent worth that much on ebay today. | |||||

| Isn't aggressive posturing manly? WS chill - I wasn't ignoring the rest of what Barry was saying. I actually thought you did a good job of addressing that in an earlier post. I, like you, was addressing that which touched close to home. I could just as easily have asked why you didnt go far enough in addressing blanket generalities by adding your gay friend into the mix with your dad and extended family. And I don't need to prove my manliness by doing anything. I thought I would be tongue-in-cheek by overly aggressive posturing. I failed, and for that I ... | |||||

| pictures help Some key factors are dimensions. Knoll labels on the underside of the cushions. The number of straps and whether or not the cushions are tufted front to back, or just front only. Knoll didnt start stamping signatures until the mid 90s I believe. | |||||
| Marimekko | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | rockybird | General discussion | |
| Marimekko I have the dark grey/black Marimekko cloth shower curtain that I bought years ago on sale at Crate and Barrel. The temp. dropped in Phoenix and I didnt have enough blankets (busy med. resident) so I ripped open the shower cutain package and used it as a quilt that winter. I never used it for the shower. It is now a cover for my small parrot's night cage. The bed set is a little bright for me, Barry, but I bet you have to see it in person to appreciate it. | |||||

| Thanks Heath2 your the only one who gave any helpful insight. maybe its because we have the same name! All i am really looking for is to any thoughts on the actual make of the chair. I know its not the sought after eames lounger but could it have been another model in production that didnt last. This seems to be very rare because no one can give any positive info on it. meaning you have never seen a chair exactly as this one. And i have spent hours looking through images on google. I can have it recovered for about 150. | |||||

| Thanks guys! Well, it looked authentic to me, but I actually didnt pay for it until today, after reading your posts. If anyone had said it was not a real clock, I might have emailed the seller. Anyway, the hands look real, the face looks right and the seller has a good rating. Also, I forgot about the clock until 4 mins. to the end, so I just jumped in. I missed a clock I wanted earlier this week and I didnt want that to happen again. I figured regardless, I like the clock! | |||||
| Chair is finished | 1 Relevance | 17 years ago | LuciferSum | General discussion | |
| Chair is finished Structurally, at least. The glued up joints are holding. I think Howards Restore-A-Finish has a new convert. It's pretty amazing - the worn surfaces look exactly the same as the places left intact. I also buffed a coat of Howards Feed'n'Wax on as well..that didnt seem to do very much. But the Restore-A-Finish was great. Now for the tricky part. I soaped the HELL out of the seat. It feels clean and sturdy, but the color is still bleached/faded. And there is an odd orange stain right where the sitters buttcrack would be. Spanky - you ... | |||||

| No offense But Mies's didnt need color. And what exactly would you paint on the Farnsworth house anyway? The windows? All white gets my vote again! 😀 Think about how refreshing the white house will be in the hot Texan sun! | |||||

| ... pics of your finished house! It will look lovely! Tchp, you hit the nail on the head, as I put engineered wood upstairs and it was installed incorrectly. THey didnt float it or level the floor, even though I specifically told them too. Now the floor pops everywhere. It was done by a distant nonblood step-relative who I kicked out before he finished. Rather than finish the botched job, I think I will take the loss, tear it out and tile in its place. I think you are right in that tile is the safer choice. | |||||
